This naturally led to new information including behind the scenes development and more. With the recency of numerous delays for big titles includingFinal Fantasy VII Remake,Cyberpunk 2077,andDying Light 2, fans were itching to know whether or not the game is planning to be delayed. Rest assured Valve is right on track with hitting theMarch 2020 release window.
The company stated “With the exception of some tweaks to the absolute final scene, the game is done. Lots of us at Valve, as well as playtesters, have played through the entire game multiple times. Right now we’re primarily polishing and fixing bugs, which is where we’d hope to be at this point in the development cycle. We’re confident we’ll hit our intended release.” Not only isHalf-Life: Alyxshaping up to be one of the biggest titles of this year, but it is also being developed by the biggest team in the developer’s history sitting at about 80 people.
It is also worth noting forHalf-Lifefans that composer Kelly Bailey who is known for creating the music in previous franchise titles will not be returning forHalf-Life: Alyx, however, Mike Morasky who composed Valve’s more recent games likePortal 2will be at the helm and has worked closely with Bailey throughout the process. Leading up to launch, Valve is planning on releasing more gameplay footage saying “Our intention is to use these to showcase not just gameplay elements, but also VR-specific elements like different movement options.”
