Groundedis an open-world game that turns a normal yard into a deadly survivalist landscape. You become the size of the insects you’d normally squash under a thumb. Grass towers over you, and juice boxes could be bedrooms.

On top of figuring out how to fix yourself, you’ll have to fight to survive. After all, those once small bugs are now capable of putting you on the endangered list. Here are the hardest bugs you’ll face that are not boss class. These opponents will routinely be met either because they’re out and about in the world or because they guard supplies needed for progression.
*Side note for all etymologists out there: yes arachnids are included despite being arthropods.

11Roly Polys
Despite not being an aggressive bug unless infected, Roly Polys arenot to be taken lightly. They have a four-part attack move set that includes a basic bite, a sideswipe, a rolling charge, and a balled-up bounce attack. They can also roll themselves into a ball to recover health drawing out the fight.
Going toe to toe with a Roly Poly is possible at Tier 2, but Tier 3 weapons are recommended as it is a Tier 3 enemy. It’s also to make the fight as easy as possible. Equip yourself with some armor like Black Ant Armor or even Ladybug Armor, and make sure you sidestep those rolls.

10Ladybirds
A stronger variant of the Ladybug that will aggro on a character. Tier 2 armor with upgrades should be the minimum when taking on this beastly bug, but taking in Tier 3 is recommended. Fighting should be avoided unless necessary. Their drops are the same as a Ladybug thus giving no real advantage to going head-to-head against this enemy, which requires a Busting-type weapon to be fought.
Ladybirds have the same pattern of attack as a Ladybug with one exception. Rearing back on their hind legs before lunging at a survivor not once but twice is unique to this opponent. You can identify this hard imposter by their inverted color scheme and changed elytra patterning.

9Tiger Mosquito
Stronger than the average mosquito is this Tier 3 flighty attacker. Tiger Mosquitoes will fight a player in the same style as their weaker variants, but that familiarity can be a downfall. They hit harder and have a bigger health cap than a regular mosquito. Being lulled into a false sense of security can lead to disastrous consequences.

Chopping and Slashing weapons are stronger against this bug, but if a busting weapon is brought to task, the damage will be reduced. Fresh does well against this the Tiger Mosquito. Dodge their poke, 3 poke, and charge loop poke attacks, and no donations need to be made to this bloodsucker anytime soon.
8Orb Weavers
Should an Orb Weaver spot you, they will become hostile. This is true for their smaller and weaker variant Orb Weaver JRs. They are usually seen near each other and will be hard to outrun if spotted. Pursuing and closing the distance very easily.
Both variants have a wide range of attacks. They will rush the player, shoot webs to slow them down or stun lock them, bite, and rear up for a lunge attack. They don’t have a venomous bite making them less of a threat than their other companions.

7Wolf Spiders
Originally the hardest to defeat the enemy in the first stages of early access, the wolf spider remains soundly inthe high ranks. The need for tier 2 supplies to successfully fight them off in any routine manner leaves them as one of your hunters for a large part of the game.
Grab your arrows, and get yourself ready to dodge chomps filled with venom. Leaping attacks are also something to worry about. If you can find a hole to hide in and shoot out of, facing off against these creeps isn’t the worst.

6Termite Dens
Termites rarely leave their den, but should a player wander too close to it, look out. These ant-like creatures are the most aggressive in their respective category. They are also the most dangerous being the only ones that can shoot acid like a Bombardier Beetle.
Stabbing is the way to go against these foes while avoiding slashing if at all possible. Their greatest strength is in numbers, but since you’ll be fighting on their home turf, engaging one at a time is no small task. If you’re off to face the King, make sure to be decked out in Tier 3 gear with some upgrades. He summons more termites and soldiers and is no easy opponent.
Grab a good tier 3 weapon, and some tier 2 armor at a minimum if you’re out to face Antlions. They are weakest to slashing damage and are resistant to all other forms of damage. If you’re not slashing through them, they will wreck you faster than you can hurt them.
They appear globally in two ways. One wanders and will aggro on a player with a vindictive spirit. They have two bite attacks when chasing as well as a burrow beneath the player attack. The other hides in a pit and throws things at the player unless they are in range for a bite attack.
4Black Ox Beetles
Grab that tier 3 stuff again to face off against this burly behemoth. It’s a powerful bug that requires a busting type of weapon as it is resistant to all other attacks. If you don’t have one, avoid them as they will not care about you trying to cut through their tough shell.

Black Ox Beetles will charge a player, headbutt them, throw whole rocks at them, kick sand and dust to hinder them, and leap at the player shaking its head side to side hitting for heavy damage. These five different attacks make it harder to predict the next move than other opponents.
This creature will not attack the player unless attacked first. It is still not a foe to be underestimated. It hits for bleed damage with a rush attack and will flap its wing to stun a player. Even with Tier 3 gear, this fight will take more than a couple of hits.
Being a flyer makes it a tough fight even without having a large health pool. A few long-range shots can be used, to begin with, but the Moth will quickly descend on a player making it hard to fight with a ranged attack as it does a stun flap.
2Green Shield Bugs
It’s easy to avoid this heavy hitter as it only spawns in one location - underneath the deck of the Shed. They will hunt a player down and are only weak to stabbing attacks. Long range is the way to go against these bright green bullies.
Add in the normal attacks and the fact they spam their gas more than a normal Stinkbug does for more difficulty. If the fight with one of them goes on for too long, you run the risk of losing all durability on your gas mask. Grab all tier 3 items before confronting them.
