Citadel of Madness is a 25-hour mini-campaign forThe Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion. The mod’s creator Lariatius first uploaded Citadel of Madness in 2013, but it’s taken over a decade for an English translation to become available (thanks,PCGamer).

Vorians has translated over 3,000 lines of dialogue from Russian to English, uploading the finished product toNexus Mods. As you may have gleaned from the name, Citadel of Madness is a companion to the Shivering Isles expansion, which is required to play the mod.

Citadel of Madness Town

Citadel of Madness adds a floating city above the Shivering Isles, and ties in with the lore of Sheogorath’s realm. According to the mod description, there’s a massive fortress, a city and two villages. The mod adds over 180 new interiors and features a main quest line similar in length to the quest lines of Cyrodill’s guilds.

Where did the jungle go, anyway?

The narrative hook of Citadel of Madness is that Sheogorath commissioned the creation of a floating fortress to protect his lands from Jyggalag, and said fortress has now been attacked. The Hero of Kvatch will need to solve this crisis, as tends to be the case.

The description promises new bosses and says the Knights of Order (Jyggalag’s foot soldiers) are “far from the strongest.” I shudder to think of the monsters the Daedric Prince of Order could have in their arsenal.

While there are limited Russian voice lines, the translation (understandably) has no voice acting. It’s recommended that the player be at least level 18 before initiating Citadel of Madness, which can be done at a watchtower north of New Sheoth.

The mod can be installed via Nexus, coming in at a total of 900MB. From a cursory glance at the images on Nexus, there are some… interesting creatures on display in this mod. Best of luck in your return to the Shivering Isles.
