One of the more marquee announcements that we got during Bethesda’s E3 showcase last year came in the way of the reveal forGhostWire: Tokyo. The latest project from Tango Gameworks, the studio associated withResident Evilcreator Shinji Mikami andformer director Ikumi Nakamura, has since been completely silent, however, causing many to wonder when we might start to hear more. According to one of Bethesda’s most notable faces, though, we should begin to hear more in just a few months.
On the latest episode ofKinda Funny’s We Have Cool Friendspodcast, Bethesda’s Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications, Pete Hines, touched briefly onGhostWire: Tokyoand confirmed that the game is planned to appear atE3 2020. Hines also remarked on the state of E3 this year, saying that it was never in Bethesda’s plans not to attend the convention. He also touched on the past history of the show and how it was thought to have been left for dead in the past only to then bounce back later.
Speaking toGhostWire: Tokyoa bit more, Hines also said that the game somehow serves as a parallel to next week’s release ofDOOM Eternal. “I won’t say anything now, but it does have an interesting parallel toDOOM Eternalthat I’ll talk to you about once we showGhostWire, that I’m curious if you’ve picked up or noticed," Hines said. “After you see it, I’ll explain a little bit about it. I’m sure we’ll talk a little bit about where the connective tissue is between those two things.”
It’s a bit intriguing to hear thatGhostWireandDOOM Eternalare somehow working in parallel to one another. While this is most likely not a direct correlation between the games and is instead one that is more metaphorical, I’m curious to hear what Hines is talking about onceGhostWireis fully revealed.
For now,GhostWire: Tokyodoesn’t have a release window and the platforms it will be arriving on haven’t been announced, either. It seems likely that we’ll hear more concrete plans about when and where it will be launching this summer, though, so stay tuned.
