Yuji Itadori’s unprecedented suffering inJujutsu Kaisenhas resulted in a lot of hate by the fans towards Gege Akutami, the creator of the series. From losing his grandfather to losing his friends and his teacher, Yuji has suffered a lot over the years. Still, he manages to get up and fight again against antagonists like Sukuna.

Yuji Itadori in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2

At the beginning of the series, Yuji Itadori was one of the happiest and most excited students who was filled with enthusiasm and fun. However, as the story progressed, the character of Yuji saw a huge development as he faced not only physical but also mental torture. Many fans believe that he is the main character who has suffered the most in all of anime history.

However, a recent fan theory claims that Akutami has planned for Yuji Itadori to suffer so that he can unlock his full potential and ultimately defeat Sukuna. The theory states that his suffering is connected to his Domain Expansion and by the end of the series, it will surely help the character in winning the final battle.

Yuji’s Suffering Will Result in Him Having The Perfect Domain Expansion

According to a theory posted byu/ibenwarforgedon Reddit, Yuji will have a domain expansion that will automatically rule out any competing domain. He will awaken this by becoming enlightened through suffering, just as the Buddha did. According to the theory, Sukuna, Gojo, and Kenjaku, all stand for humanity as a whole and the various paths that individuals can choose to pursue in life.

Kenjaku symbolizes destiny as the quest for a real meaning in life. Gojo symbolizes pride because he believes himself to be the greatest sorcerer, while Sukuna represents greed in his desire for everything for his amusement and pleasure. Conversely, Yuji stands for the Middle Path, which is the path that the Buddha recommends taking to become enlightened. Trained to fight by Gojo (pride), born from the hands of Kenjaku (fate) to be the ideal vessel for Sukuna (greed and gluttony), Yuji truly stands in the middle of everything.

Yuji will find himself in the center of suffering and pain, with different paths standing on either side of him. His ability to achieve zen while fighting enables him to use Black Flash, a soul-directing attack. He will eventually become vulnerable to all forms of pain, achieving the ultimate zen as a result of his suffering, which will enable him to reach his full potential.

Yuji Itadori’s Ultimate Domain Expansion

The theory further states that as Yuji during the final battle will achieve enlightenment just like Buddha, he will be able to use a Domain Expansion technique that will be able to negate every domain expansion or any other cursed technique.

For his Domain Expansion, he will utilize the Dhyana Mudra hand sign, which will open a domain containing the fundamentals of meditation. The domain will contain inner serenity, calmness, stillness, and the existence of both nothing and everything. Any domain will be overrun by it, and it will end every technique in its path instantly.

The theory perfectly places Yuji’s suffering at the center of his full potential growth and thus holds much significance. However, nothing can be said as a confirmation because Akutami has a habit of taking things out of the expectations of their fans and shocking them completely.
