The release ofFortnite’sv20.40 update is imminent, which means the massive Battle Royale title will have its servers taken down for scheduled maintenance on May 17th.

Epic Games continue to keep the content updates coming, with the last major update arriving just two weeks ago. In between the release of v20.30 and v20.40, Epic even treated fans to the unvaulting of the Hunting Rifle, Air Strike, and Flint Knock Pistol.

Prior to the recent hotfix update, v20.30 brought with it the destruction of Tilted Towers as the battle of the IO vs the Resistance continued, as well as Star Wars Day celebrations with the return of lightsabers and exclusive skins. So, what exactly does the next major content update hold?

ORIGINAL STORY:Epic Games informed players via the officialFortniteStatus Twitter account that the v20.40 update would be deployed for all platforms onTuesday, May 17th, 2022.

However, prior to the release of the new patch, the servers will be taken down for maintenance. According to the developers, downtime will begin at1AM PT / 4AM ET / 9AM BST, with matchmaking being disabled 30 minutes beforehand.

Although the length of the downtime was not confirmed by Epic, past updates have seen maintenance last between 1 and 2 hours. We will be sure to update this article once the servers are back online, so stay tuned for details.
