Epic Gamesis reportedly testing a new feature on its website that will allowFortniteplayers to access the game’s item shop from a web browser. If implemented, this means players would be able to purchase cosmetic items on their Fortnite accounts without even having to boot up the game.
The alleged new feature comes from Fortnite data minerLele, as well as fellow leakersKrowe MohandHYPEX. According to the former of the three, an update to the game’s website suggests that Epic is currently working on an Item Shop section of the Fortnite website. The leaker claims that it also has references to refunds and video previews, which would imply that players will be able to purchase cosmetic items from the Fortnite website and refund them if they choose to do so.

Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3 Patch Notes Detail New Map Changes, Weapons, And More
Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 3: Wrecked has officially arrived, here’s what’s new.
There’s no way to know for sure when this feature will be released. As this is a leak, there’s the possibility that it might not ever see the light of day. Studios such as Epic Games will often begin developing new features before scrapping them for unknown reasons. Just because this feature has made its way online, does not necessarily mean it will be released.

But, with that being said, HYPEX noted that this has been “in the works for a while” but Epic only recently began setting it up on the website. The leaker also said the feature would be added “soon.” If true, this could mean that Epic is in the final stages of developing this feature and is gearing up for a release. But, once again, we recommend you take these details with a pinch of salt for the time being.
