Call of Dutygames are all about virtual wars, but Activision has been in an ongoing battle for a long time now. This war has been against hackers and cheaters invading their games and ruining the fun for actual players.

Call of Duty’s anti-cheat is targeting more than just hackers.

While the company has implemented various types of anti-cheat systems in its games, hackers always find loopholes and workarounds. Sadly, these anti-cheat systems are not super refined, and innocent players end up on the chopping block.

Call of Duty Players Attack Activision for Sudden Bans

When gaming online, it’s roll of the dice if a hacker will be present in your match. People who use software and tools to cheat in the game have the potential to ruin more than just a match. Sometimes, anti-cheat software will wrongly label real players in games with hackers as being hackers themselves. That’s where the drama starts.

Activision Blizzard Wanted Call of Duty to Jump on the Live-Service Bandwagon Years Before Everyone Else with ‘fun, campy, experimental’ Attempt

@BobNetworkUK posted on his X channel that they had been banned fromCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. The ban is temporary, but it’s a frustrating feeling, and Bob expresses it as much in his language. Below the image, they have retweeted his previous post, which also contains an image.

In the previous tweet, they talked about how a friend of theirs got hit with a permaban after playing a game against hackers. The ban applies to severalCall of Dutytitles, such asModern Warfare 3,Warzone, andModern Warfare 2. The message states they can appeal the ban by filling out the form.

People have responded to the tweet, with some sharing how they have faced the same issues and others calling it a glitch. It’s not all support, though, as some replies asked if the user had been IP banned. This would mean any new account made using the same IP would face an immediate ban. Others are telling the poster to just wait for the ban to come out and then hop back on.

Hackers Affect More than Just the K/DR of Call of Duty Players

The issue here is that the anti-cheat software is unable to differentiate between a real player and a cheater. Hackers have plagued theCall of Dutylobby for a long time, and despite their best efforts, they continue to harass playerseven inWarzone. It’s becoming such a problem that the franchise might lose a significant chunk of its player base if the problem is not controlled.

Even with state-of-the-art anti-cheat software in place, hackers are determined to make their presence felt in games. It takes only a few days for them to find loopholes to exploit and use their tools and software to once again run amok online.

You continue to demonstrate you aren’t as innocent as you think you are, bans generally prohibit you from creating a new account to circumvent the ban. Take the L and go play Fortnite.

Reporting these hackers is the only real recourse players have at their disposal. The reporting system is hit or miss, and there is no guarantee a submitted report will result in any action being taken. The other option is to simply block the player to not encounter them again, but when you block one, three more spring up in their place.

Gaming was one of my earliest passions then along came writing, and here we are. I’ve been in the content creation space for several years now and as gamer for even longer. From understanding the complexities of a multilayer narrative to the simply joy of “big gun go boom”, my goal is to capture all the emotions in between and put them down in an engaging manner.
