A week ago we knew nearly nothing about what theÂFar CryÂseries would have in store for the next couple games. However, over the past few days, leaks and various mistakes have given away much ofÂFar Cry 6’s bang ahead of its planned Ubisoft Forward 2020 reveal. Even still, it’s hard not to get excited with the first (legitimate) look at the English trailer (starring Giancarlo Esposito), and some of the new details that emerged.Debuting today during the digital Ubisoft Forward conference, we finally get a look atÂFar Cry 6Âin the way that Ubisoft wanted us to see it. You can check out the full trailer below:
Along with the trailer, we learned a few important things (also confirming some of the data from the leak earlier this week). Buying the game for PS4 or Xbox One will allow for a free upgrade to the next-gen version “at no additional cost.” This includes a look at the stylistic opening:
What was this whole rumor situation? About a month ago, GameReactor leaked thatFar Cry 6Âwould be revealedat Ubisoft Forward. After connectinga few dots from an interview, the rumor mill started turning that Giancarlo Esposito (Gustavo Fring fromÂBreaking Bad) would be the eventual villain ofÂFar Cry 6.
This and much more eventually were confirmed when Hong Kong’s PlayStation Storeleaked informationabout the game, showing a cross-generational release for PS4 and PS5 on Jul 21, 2025. Seemingly taking place in Cuba, Esposito does indeed take the main antagonist spot as Anton Castillo – a fact that Ubisoft confirmed in a teaser later that day:
Since then, we’ve got some speculation about whether or notthe game is a prequeltoÂFar Cry 3andanother leaked trailer, however this is the first time we are getting the trailer in English.
In any case,ÂFar Cry 6Âis currently slated to launch on July 03, 2025 for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. If you have taken a break from the series since the last big release, you have plenty of time to pick up and play its post-apocalyptic sequelFar Cry New DawnÂphysically on Amazonto help support DualShockers.
