After many months of rumor and speculation,Hitmanseries developers IO Interactive have finally confirmed their upcoming James Bond game, 007: First Light.
The announcement trailer, posted onIO Interactive’s YouTube channel, has been met with a largely positive reception and gives us an insight into what we might expect from the game’s story and gameplay mechanics.

New details continue to emerge regarding the game’s technical performance capabilities, as well as some of the story elements not covered in the initial reveal trailer.
What Is Confirmed So Far?
In aPlayStation.Blog post, IO Interactive’s Senior Communications Manager, Yann Roskell, provided some further insight into what 007: First Light has in store.
Dubbed as a Bond “origin story”, he is presented as theyoungest version of the elite British spyyet seen. “This is a Bond like you’ve never seen him before -” wrote Roskell, “In 007 First Light, Bond starts as a NAVY air crewman, when against all odds, an audacious act of bravery propels him on MI6’s most challenging training program.”
Roskell also promised some impressive performance metrics, citing thatthe game will run at 60FPS in Quality Mode on PS5 Pro, using PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR).
Fans have speculated as to the identity ofthe lead actor playing Bond, and it seems as though Patrick Gibson (Dexter: Original Sin) is a likely fit. Furthermore, other characters from the franchise such as M, Q and Moneypenny will feature.
Unlike the Hitman games, 007: First Light is also introducing driving mechanics for the first time, so it seemsthe focus will definitely be more on action/adventurethan pure stealth and subterfuge.
A variety of beautiful locations are also set to feature, ranging from Alpine European estates to the famous ‘James Bond Island’ in Phuket, Thailand.
007: First Light is set to release at some point in 2026, though no specific release date or window has yet been set. The game will also be available on multiple platforms including Xbox, PC and Nintendo Switch 2.
