It’s party time, but which board to pick?Super Mario Party Jamboreeoffersseven different boards for the classicMario Partygame mode.

Whether doing laps on Roll ‘em Raceway or dodging traps in King Bowser’s Keep, each board’s unique mechanics and items keepMario PartyHowever, not all boards are created equal!

7Mario’s Rainbow Castle

Overcommits To A Single Gimmick

Unique Item

Description

Tower Turner

Has about a 50% chance of turning the central tower, swapping Toad with Bowser.

While “rainbow” usually themes difficult and exciting levels in a Mario game—likeMario Kart’sinfamous Rainbow Road—that isn’t true forJamboree.Mario’s Rainbow Castle is pretty straightforward.Race to the top to buy a Star from Toad, then float back to the beginning as the tower turns and swaps Toad out for Bowser.

Jackbox Party Pack Featured Image

This is honestly the only board in the game I feel is pretty “meh.” There is some strategy required to time movement and item use, so your opponents get forced to buy Bowser’s Ztar.

However, the straight and direct route makes me slightly puzzled why this board was chosen as a remake forJamboree(especially compared to the boards in past remakes).

6Rainbow Galleria

Items, Items Galore!

Markup Sticker

Doubles the price of items and Stars for the targeted opponent during their next turn.

Unsurprisingly, the indoor shopping mall is all about items! Rainbow Galleria’s variety of item shops—plus a Flash Sale everyfive turns to cut prices in half—incentivizeconstant item use.

This board’s escalators and elevator make it interesting to navigate, too, as you rush through three different floors buying Stars. The downside is that there aren’t any ways to alter the available routes or to trigger interesting events.

Rainbow Galleria is a fun board! It just lacks the interactive elements that createMario Party’smagic.

The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom - 10 Best Minigames, Ranked

There are a lot of mini-games you can play in Tears of the Kingdom. Here are the best ones you can find.

5Goomba Lagoon

I Swear, If You Trap Me One More Time…

Changes the lagoon’s tide from low to high, or high to low.

Goomba Lagoon winsthe dubious distinction of being the “Board Most Likely To Make Me Ragequit"due to its tidal mechanics. Every two turns—or whenever one of your “friends” rings a Tide Bell—the water rises or falls. Paths between the islands are only available during low tide.

So if you, say, accidentally get stuck on an island during high tide, and then another player turns it to low tidejustbefore the automatic tide changes, they can skip across, leaving you stuck once more. However, you may glide away if you land on the zipline’s event space.

That said, devious friends also demonstrate why this board is fun. The route around the islands changes frequently. Add an erupting volcano filled with Golden Goombas and Lava Bubbles, and you’ve got a deliciously engaging experience.

4Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party

Fantastic Intro Board For Newbies

Wiggler Bell

Wakes Mega Wiggler, causing him to move to the other side. Has a small chance to anger him, too.

Mega Wiggler’s Tree Party and Mario’s Rainbow Castle are both rated with a 1-Star difficulty.Contrathe latter, this board features a lovely blend of interaction and simplicity.

Like the Tide Bell, the Wiggler Bell changes routes around this board. While you can’t get stuck,a well-timed Wiggler move can ruin someone’s route to a Star.

This suitsJamboree’sfirst board well, teaching new players a core game premise while also remaining quite accessible. I’ve found this map particularly fun when playing with the Pro Rules because the early Koopa Shop encourages strategic decision-making, since all shops have limited inventory in the Pro Rules.

3Roll ‘em Raceway

Get Paid For Lapping The Competition

Turbo Dice

Roll four dice and add them together. However, you may’t stop along the way—not even for Stars.

Despite a fairly simple route, this board’s strong use of the racing theme helps it shine. Roll ‘em Raceway is a great example that agoodmap isn’t always acomplexmap.

The Star always alternates between two spaces, one on each of the board’s northern routes. When the players are packed together, your choice of route (or use of a Chomp Call) can nab you the Star. Otherwise, you’ll have to do another lap.

The racing theme is further supported by the inclusion of Turbo Dice and a “Dice Stop” which fills your inventory for just 10 Coins.

Each lap rewards you with 10 Coins per lap completed. Altogether, Roll ‘em Raceway provides a fun and flavorful board that facilitates a surprising amount of strategic thinking.

Jackbox games are fun to play at house parties, and here are some of the best ones to try the next time you hang out with your friends.

2King Bowser’s Keep

Maximum Danger, Maximum Complexity

Bowser Byway Lever

Switches the direction of the central square Bowser Byway.

After completing Kamek’s Party-Planner Trek, you’ll be able to play on this trap-filled labyrinth. The Bowser Byway at this board’s heart switches directionswhenever an Event Space is hit—or a player uses a Bowser Byway Lever—resulting in a frequently changing route.

Worse yet, when you’re playing King Bowser’s Keep, Impostor Bowser himself takes turns! Every three turns, he’ll add two additional Bowser Spaces to the central square.

This board definitely earns its 5-Star difficulty rating. Yet it’s also a lot of fun, since the constant changes and dangers encourage looking ahead to determine the best route. King Bowser’s Keep is definitely a board which doesn’t get boring.

1Western Land

Time for a Hootenanny!

Steamer Ticket

Call Steamer to the train station at which the ticket is used.

This old-timey board themed around the Wild West isSuper Mario Party Jamboree’sbest because of its interesting routes and colorful interactive elements.

The train, Steamer, is particularly engaging because he both offers quick transportation and can also sabotage your opponents. If you’re standing on the track, getting hit by Steamer knocks you back to the starting space.

Further, reaching Wiggler’s Milk Stand at the back of the board lets you call opponents over for a hootenanny. This offers asecondway to mess with travel around the board, creating even more chaos.

Skeleton Keys also provide shortcuts and backward loops to navigate the board. A safe area in the middle of the board counter-balances the train, so that the knockback rarely becomes tedious.

All told, Western Land is a fantastic board. Even though it’s a remake fromMario Party 2,the board’s blend of interaction and charm proves that this classic remains a modern Super Star.
