Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and Shawn Levy are taking over the box offices worldwide with their recently releasedDeadpool & Wolverine, which is profanely pleasing fans with all its jabs and fourth-wall-breaking moments. Not only did they go the extra mile with this film, but also added some risky factors that may not have worked as perfectly in other R-rated movies.
One of these very elements seemingly included a jibe at Hollywood actor Will Smith as well, relating to his slapgate moment with Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, and proving that even he is not safe from the Merc with a Mouth. But, hilariously enough, he isn’t the only one who faced some really cruel jabs through some iconic profanity-filled moments in the masterpiece.
Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Seemingly Lands a Direct Jab at Will Smith
First off, pleasedo notread further than this if you haven’t seen the movie already but intend to because this article contains some serious spoilers forDeadpool & Wolverine. Unless youwishto spoil it for yourself, of course.
Second,Ryan Reynoldsactually didn’t hold back while delivering all the gags, punchlines, and fourth-wall-breaking moments that will, unarguably, go down as some of the best in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
One of the more candid scenes of the movie sees a TVA soldier confronting Reynolds’ Wade Wilson and making a bold statement that has him saying the actor’s home country’s name out loud (i.e. Canada). To this, Reynolds says:
Get my country’s name out of your f—ing mouth.
Needless to say, that sounds oddly familiar to somethingBad Boysactor Smith said during the 2022 Academy Awards ceremony after stepping up to the stage to land a fuming slap on Chris Rock’s face for making a joke about his secretly-separated-for-seven-years wife,Jada Pinkett Smith.
Back then, after heading back to his seat,Will Smithwas seen shouting:
Keep my wife’s name out of your f—ing mouth!
While that obviously didn’t go down as one of the more celebrated moments in the history of Hollywood because ofhow brutally it ended up affecting Smith’s career, we seriously doubt Reynolds will be affected by this jibe with anything more than just a good laugh from fans.

But what’s even more interesting than all of this is that this slapgateChris Rockmoment from the Academy Awards wasn’t the only thing trolled in the 127-minute-long irreverent cinematic gem.
Deadpool & WolverineDidn’t Go Easy On a Lot of Things
Besides referencing Smith’s infamous moment from the Academy Awards 2022,Hugh Jackman‘s latest piece for Marvel also landed some serious blows on other Hollywood actors and even some former characters from the cinematic universe.
This included the likes of Ben Affleck’s Daredevil, who received a subtle dig through a very cruel joke that his ex-wifeJennifer Garner’s Elektra landed on himamidst his divorce rumors with his current wife Jennifer Lopez.

Adding to all of this is the unfazed Merc with a Mouth truthfully blastingKevin Feigeand the MCU through one too many scenes that see him either take a direct jab at the“low point”the franchise has been at or his simply groaning at just how underwhelming of a narrative engine the multiverse has been so far in the post-Avengers: EndgameMCU.
