Believe it or not, 12-year-old Emma Stone, with big dreams and hilarious ideas, was almost ready to make her mark in the world of sketch comedy. She had even auditioned for Nickelodeon’sAll That, the beloved sketch show that was basically SNL for kids. But unfortunately, her breakout moment was derailed by… well, her possessed babysitter character.

That’s right, Emma Stone, the actress popularly known for her iconic role inAmazing Spider-Manfilms and winning the Oscar forLa La LandandPoor Things, had apparently come up with the character of a possessed babysitter forAll That.Well, while the idea wasn’t bad for a 12-year-old, it was indeed a little too exorcist for Nickelodeon’s kid-friendly vibe.

Emma Stone Recalled Auditioning for Nickelodeon’sAll Thatas a 12-Year-Old

Much like Amanda Bynes, who found her big break from her appearance in Nickelodeon’sAll That, even Emma Stone was once hoping to follow the same path. Appearing for an interview onThe Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actress mentioned how she had once auditioned for the sketch comedy show at just 12 years of age.

Well, there’s no denying that Emma Stone would’ve been a perfect fit for the Nickelodeon hit showAll That, alongside other young child actors. Considering how she later appeared alongside Amanda Bynes inEasy Aand even worked alongside Keenan Thompson onSNL, Stone could have proved to be a natural talent on the kid-friendly show.

I went to an open call for All That. We drove out from Arizona and I auditioned for All That when I was 12 years old.

I didn’t know that you had to have characters. So I thought they were gonna give us sketches and then like 5 minutes before I went into the room, they said ‘you need to have 3 characters’.

And just like that, instead of getting nervous and giving up, Emma Stone spontaneously created three characters in her head, five minutes before entering the room. It seems since the tender age of 12, the actress has proven to be a gem in the industry, but sadlyAll Thatproducers failed to see through.

Emma Stone’s Possessed Babysitter Role Was a Bit Too Much for Nickelodeon

Proceeding with her anecdote,Emma Stonerecalled two out of three characters that she created as a 12-year-old newcomer. Speaking with Jimmy Fallon, the actress mentioned creating the role of a cheerleader who was bad at spelling, and a truly bizarre, out-of-the-box character of a possessed babysitter.

I made up a couple of characters. I remember, one was a cheerleader that couldn’t spell what she was cheering. So I was like ‘be aggressive. B-E A-R…’

And then there was another one that was actually pretty nuts, that was a babysitter who is possessed. So as she’s reading books to the kids, she’s like ‘and then Goldy locks and [turning on her demonic voice] the three bears…’

Cracking the audience up with her recollection, Emma Stone admitted that it was a “pretty special experience”. However, sadly she didn’t land the part inAll That, perhaps because the concept of a possessed babysitter was a bit too scary for Nickelodeon’s sketch comedy show for children. But had she gotten that part, Emma Stone could have tasted success much earlier in life.
