There’s no denying that the people over at FromSoftware have outdone themselves withElden Ring‘sShadow of the Erdtreeexpansion. Everything, from the world design to the enemy encounters, within the Land of Shadow screams Hidetaka Miyazaki and his team at the height of their creative prowess.

However, in traditional FromSoft fashion, the expansion has its fair share of flaws, as it has sparked many debates and discussions over different aspects. Fortunately for us, a more minor but equally annoying aspect, the expansion’s traversal puzzles, can now be avoided with a simple trick.

You Can Now Bypass All the Locked Spiritsprings in Shadow of the Erdtree

Putting aside the debates surroundingShadow of the Erdtree‘s sketchy lore or the difficulty, nobody can deny that traversing the land of Shadow is perhaps the biggest draw of the expansion.

“It’s very stimulating for me”: Without the Rip-offs Spawned in the Soulslike Genre, We May Not Have Had Elden Ring as We Do

According to some players, the in-game traversal, which should be a seamless experience, is somewhat bogged down by the locked Spiritsprings spread across the land. In essence, it breaks the flow as players spend their precious time looking around for the stack of stones that can unlock the mechanic.

However, a player has now discovered that using either Margit or Mohg’s shackles, you’re able to easily bypass the puzzle and quickly continue on your journey without hassle:

Ever sinceElden Ringfirst came out, people have discovered a ton of utility for these shackles, from finding illusory walls to triggering the catacomb pillars from a safe distance. Although it is still being determined whether this was an intended decision on FromSoftware’s part, you may, for the time being, access many areas inShadow of the Erdtreewith absolute ease.

Where Can You Find Margit and Mohg’s Shackles in Elden Ring?

If you have some time to spare outside of fightingShadow of the Erdtree‘s extremely challenging boss fights, you can quickly make your way to these Shackles to make your playthrough much more manageable and smoother.

To get Margit’s Shackle, you can purchase it from Patches for purchased from Patches for 5000 Runes in Murkwater Cave once he is defeated and turns into a merchant.

Getting Mohg’s Shackle is a little tricky, however, as you’ll have to reach the bottom of the Subterranean Shunning Grounds—You’ll find the shackle near the Leyndell Catacombs Site of Grace.

To reiterate, it remains to be seen whether unlocking Spiritsprings using these Shackles was a part of FromSoftware’s plans with this puzzle, and there is a very high chance that this may get patched out in the future.

Keeping that in mind, be sure to quickly take advantage of these and cover as much ground as possible inShadow of the Erdtree. With that said, what are your thoughts on this little exploit? Were you aware of the Shackles’ uses outside of battle? Let us know in the comments below.
