Field bosses are one of the best ways to quickly farm runes for leveling up inElden Ring Nightreign. But you often have to wait till day 2 for them to be revealed, or explore obscure locations like the empty fields or corners of the map to find them early.
Luckily, the Castle is one place in the game that is always in the same location. So, no matter if the Earth is shifting or where the various forts, encampments, or other ruins spawn, this is one place in the game that isn’t randomly generated and which you may always find at the center of the map.

Elden Ring Nightreign: 10 Most Useful Unique Relics
Which Nightreign relic is best, and which beats the rest?
Not only does this place have plenty of strong enemies that drop agood amount of runes, but it has two areas where you will always find a field boss. These locations are the castle’s roof and the basement.

But not all field bosses are created equally. Depending on your luck, you could get someone easy, like the Ancient Hero of Zamor, or if you are having a bad day, you may meet the Bell Bearing Hunter.
The good news is that these are always the same select few bosses, out of which two will spawn in these locations. Knowing this gives you a better chance of preparing for these fights. So, here are all the castle bosses in Nightreign and the best ones to fight.

Any “Easy” or “Medium” boss in this guide is worth taking down. I’d only recommend “Hard” bosses if you have a high-leveled team on Day 2 and don’t have to sacrifice any other important points of interest in order to take on these challenges.
How To Get To The Castle Bosses
Before actually checking them out, it is ideal that you know how to get to them:
While there are multiple ways to get to the roof, the one we’ll take for this guidestarts with the site of grace north of the castle. From here, turn south, and you should see a set of stairs leading up to the castle.

Use it to go up. Typically, you should find a Crucible Knight, Banished Knight, or a troll here.Turn right and jump on the platform, go straight, then left, and head straight to reach what looks like a hall. There will be a dining table here.
As soon as you enter here,go right and follow the natural path forward, and you will climb a few sets of stairs that will lead you to the rooftop.

Now, for the basement, getting there is easier; check the map for what looks like a river connected to the castle. You can follow this path from either side, and you should reach the drainage channel.
Enter the opening as shown in the above image, since both entrances look the same. Depending on where you came from, you may have to go left or right, and you will reach the boss’s room in the basement.
Now that you know how to get to these bosses, below I have listed all thebosses in order from easiest to hardest.
Typically, the bosses that run around a lot are a pain to deal with, as you end up spending unnecessarily longer than you would on fighting someone normal. But that isn’t the only factor taken into consideration; some other things, like their HP, and the number and types of their moves, also affect how difficult a boss can be.
Elden Ring Nightreign: All Castle Roof Bosses
These are the 10 bosses that have a chance of spawning on the castle’s roof:
Tree Sentinel
Difficulty
Starting with the easiest boss that you can encounter on the rooftop, we have Tree Sentinel. If you have played Elden Ring, there is a very high chance this is the first field boss you must have fought.
No matter if you stuck around to fight it then and there or leveled up and came back to defeat him later, you must be pretty familiar with his moves. However, for those who are fighting him for the first time in Nightreign, here is a quick breakdown of his attacks.
In his first phase, he attacks you a lot with his Golden Halberd. These are your standard swings and slashes, which are easy to dodge but can kill you if you get hit. As the fight goes on, in his second phase, he jumps more and does a lot of moves that deal AoE damage.
Recluse and Revenant players should be careful when spamming spells, as Tree Sentinel can use Golden Retaliation, which backfires your spells on you or your team.
The good thing about this boss is that it fights pretty fairly, doesn’t run off as much, and isn’t super tanky.
Magma Wyrm
Another great and easy boss that you may find above the Castle is Magma Wyrm. It does spew a lot of magma, both as projectiles and as discharge on the ground, as it charges toward you.
However, aside from those attacks, it does a few variations of swipes and slashes with its Curved Greatsword. If it does the spin attack, you should roll into the boss. But if it is about to pound its Scalesword on the ground, you should time it right and roll away.
Magma Wyrm is one of the slowest bosses in terms of its movements, so depending on your character, it may be even easier to defeat than the Tree Sentinel.
Erdtree Avatar
Another giant creature that is somewhat slow but hits like a truck is the Erdtree Avatar. It has the appearance of a husk of some tree and will attack you by swinging its giant staff.
It has two phases; in the first half, it tries to crush you with its staff or by stomping on you. As the fight progresses, it uses Erdtree Slam, in which this boss jumps and does a ground pound, which is an AoE attack.
Finally, its most problematic move is when it thrusts its staff into the ground and spawns golden homing projectiles. Still, it can be easily dealt with if you run around and attack every window.
Ulcerated Tree Spirit
Ulcerated Tree Spirit is an even bigger boss than the Erdtree Avatar. But that’s good, because the bigger the enemy, the better hitbox you get to spam your attacks.
Most of its attacks are generally easy to read, like the one where it slams its hand on the ground to attack you, does a spin attack with its tail, or spits golden fire.
The two attacks that you should look out for are its charged bite, where it jumps and lunges to bite you. you may avoid it with a well-timed dodge roll.
The other is where it creates golden fires in the ground that shoot up. The best way to dodge it is to simply run away and stand on clear ground.
Draconic Tree Sentinel
This is where the difficulty starts spiking up. Draconic Tree Sentinel, or DTS, is the bigger and meaner brother of Tree Sentinel.
Initially, this fight can be a lot scarier because the boss’s Greatclaw attacks all do AoE damage. But if you thought you were safe as Ironeye or other ranged characters, then he has some bad news. His horse can spit giant fireballs to one-shot you.
All of the above was just in his first phase; the second phase gets worse when he starts using lightning on you. The trickiest attack in this phase is when he raises his shield to call on lightning, and when he brings it down, lightning strikes where you are standing.
To dodge the above attack, do a dodge roll just as he starts bringing the shield down.
DTS is a bit tankier than Tree Sentinel, but once you get used to his moves, taking him down becomes manageable.
Royal Carian Knight
Royal Carian Knight, or Royal Knight Loretta as she is known in the base game, is an annoying boss to fight, especially on the roof.
This knight is a spell spammer who periodically creates glintblades around her. These magical swords home in on you whenever you get too close to her or automatically after some time.
Elden Ring Nightreign: Best Legendary Weapon For Each Nightfarer
Confused with all the Legendary Weapons available in Elden Ring Nightreign? This guide will help you select the perfect one for your run!
In the first half of the fight, she will create 5 glintblades, occasionally shoot blue projectiles, and sometimes swing at you with her Halberd.
It gets worse in the second phase, as this time she starts creating 10 glintblades, shoots 5 blue projectiles at once, and her halberd attacks are now stronger due to them being infused with magic. But if that wasn’t enough, she will also shoot four giant magical arrows at you.
Almost all of her moves can be avoided with well-timed dodge rolls to either side. So, while she may be a bit bothersome to deal with, she is still one of the better bosses you can fight on the castle roof.
Ancestor Spirit
Speaking of annoying bosses, we have the Ancestor Spirit. The reason it is on medium difficulty instead of easy is that, unless you are playing someone who has ranged attacks, this boss can be a pain to deal with.
Generally, you should have an easier time against it, as this is a pretty slow boss. However, it jumps around and runs away from you quite a lot. Pair this with its blue flame attack that slows you down, and you begin to wonder if the fight is even worth it.
Aside from the above irritating attacks, when it is on the ground, it can attack you with its antlers or headbutt you. You also aren’t safe behind, as it can kick you with its hind legs.
Black Blade Kindred
Things start to get a bit heated from here on. Black Blade Kindred is a boss that has a lot of attacks. To make matters worse, it has two weapons that it frequently switches between. So, it will always keep you on your toes throughout the fight.
Although out of the two evils, it is a bit easier to fight while he uses his sword rather than his halberd. However, since this is a time-sensitive game, you won’t exactly get many chances to stall him so that he can switch back to the weapon you are comfortable with.
From wildly swinging its sword, to flying in the air and thrusting its halberd into the ground at you, this boss has attacks that cover all ranges. As such, the best advice is to be patient while fighting him.
Bell Bearing Hunter
Bell Bearing Hunter can seriously be a nightmare in this game. This is one menacing monster who can show up randomly on some field, on the castle roof, in the basement, or even as a Night 1 boss.
It uses Marais Executioner’s sword both normally and as a ranged weapon. Aside from that, it also has a shield bash and a force grab attack.
All of its moves are fairly easy to deal with once you learn them, especially if you knowhow to parry. Still, for whatever reason, he has alotof HP. And to make things worse, he also has alot of poise.
So, unless you are a bit overleveled or are very comfortable with his attacks, it is better that you avoid fighting him. This is simply because his fights can take longer than usual, which isn’t ideal for this game.
Death Rite Bird
Finally, for the worst Castle Roof boss, we have the Death Rite Bird. It checks all the boxes for being an annoying enemy to fight.
It attacks you using its Death’s Poker to both swing and stab you while unleashing black-blue flames that inflict frost.
If that wasn’t bad enough, it often flies around a lot, has a scream that inflicts Death Blight, an attack where it summons a lot of spears to hurl on the ground, and a homing ghostflame attack that launches multiple feather-like projectiles at you.
This is the one boss that is highly recommended that you avoid, as the trouble is often not worth the rewards, and you may save some time fighting off another field boss elsewhere.
Elden Ring Nightreign: All Castle Basement Bosses
These are the 7 bosses that you can find in the Basement of the Castle:
Ancient Hero of Zamor
Starting the Basement bosses with one of the tamest enemies that you can find, Ancient Hero of Zamor is someone that you should absolutely fight, no matter where you find them.
This enemy fights using a Zamor Curved Sword. Its movements and attacks are pretty slow, although you should look out for its frost attacks; it does two of them.
The first is its breath attack, where it kneels and breathes frost in your direction. You can avoid it by running to either side. The other is where it uses his sword to create an Ice Storm.
Lastly, he also infuses frost on his sword. This will make his attacks extra powerful.
Leonine Misbegotten
Another boss that is always worth fighting is Leonine Misbegotten. While it may have speed going on for it, it doesn’t attack all that frequently, giving you plenty of chances to beat this boss.
The main attacks that you should look out for when fighting it are its lunge attacks, the one when it swings its sword while spinning, and the jump AoE attack where it thrusts its sword into the ground.
you’re able to time your dodge rolls, or the better option would be to parry its non-jump attacks to deal huge chunks of damage.
Black Knife Assassin
Speaking of fast bosses, Black Knife Assassin is a boss that uses lots of slashes, lunging stabs, spins, and grab attacks.
It has surprisingly a lot of moves, but most of them can be parried. Additionally, since she doesn’t have a huge health bar, you shouldn’t have to worry about dealing with them all, especially if you are decently leveled.
Still, this fight isn’t all fun and games. The one attack that you must ensure you avoid at all costs is when she uses the red glowing blade of death slash. This is a ranged move that chips away your max HP for some time while also dealing damage over time.
Grafted Scion
Grafted Scion is a boss that has a lot of combos, so compared to the above fights, this tends to go a bit slower as you need to carefully choose when to attack.
It often uses moves like thrusting or slashing its swords at you wildly, a jump attack where it slams its shield on the ground and follows up by attacking with its swords, a screech attack, and its most dangerous move: a spin attack.
The good thing about this boss is, you can break its poise without having too much trouble, so it goes down quite easily.
Red Wolf of the King Consort
With Red Wolf of the King Consort, we enter the annoying basement bosses' territory. Just like Red Wolf of Radagon, this beast jumps around way too much while creating delayed glintblades.
To further ruin this fight, there are several pillars in the basement. While they are useful in some other fights or even here to tank the glintblades, they often work against you rather than in your favor and simply get in the way.
Luckily, the wolf likes to lunge and bite you a lot, so aside from the glintblades, these are the only other moves that it uses. If you may learn them, this fight becomes a lot more manageable.
Just like its rooftop version, the Bell Bearing Hunter is still very much a problem to deal with in the basement. His moveset is the same as explained above.
The good thing is that once you learn how to fight him, you will be prepared for all his encounters!
Royal Revenant
Finally, for possibly the worst boss in the game, we have Royal Revenant. Everything that made this boss worse inElden Ringis still here.
For starters, this boss sinks itself into the ground to teleport elsewhere, forcing you to look for and run after it. Next, it has a poisonous spit attack, which has a surprisingly long range.
If all that wasn’t enough, it regularly lunges at you and can interrupt your attacks. But the worst move that gets the cake has to be where it aggressively throws its hands at you.
The above-mentioned last attack is the most problematic, because not only does it stun-lock you, but it can even easily kill you in one motion.
So, unless you know its moves or counters like the back of your hand, I really wouldn’t recommend fighting it. Often, the runes you get aren’t worth it, especially if this fight goes on for too long.
