As uncovered byPortugese gaming website Geekinout, a job posting for a “Senior Technical Artist - IRON MAN” onEA’s careers pagelists the job being available at the Montreal-based studio. Furthermore, language in the job posting specifically state’s that the Iron Man project will be an open world game.

Iron Man Seems To Be Coming Together
As Geekinout also reported, there have been other indicators that the upcoming game will be open world in nature, including a second job posting on the same website for a Senior Environmental Artist, although that job ad only states that experience with open world games would be beneficial for the person taking the position, and it doesn’t officially declare that the Iron Man game will be open world.
That’s somewhat more specific than thedescription that EA gave to the publicin September 2022when it announced the game. At that time, the publisher was calling it “an all-new single-player, third-person, action-adventure Iron Man video game [that] is now in early development at Montreal-based Motive Studio.” At that time, the Iron Man game was listed as being in its pre-production phase, and it was also billed as the first in what is expected to be “the first of several new games” created by the partnership between EA and Marvel Games.
Since then, EA has given aslight update on the game a few days ago, confirming that the game will have an all-new story that’s never been told in any other medium. But overall, the publisher has been pretty silent about the Iron Man project, which can be expected for a game still this early in its developmental cycle. Still, the fact that job listings for artists are going up on the company’s website is a positive sign for those looking forward to jumping into a new Iron Man adventure.

How Big Of An Open World Will Iron Man Need?
With the recent news in mind, and pretty common knowledge of just what feats Iron Man is capable of, it calls the question of just how big this open world is going to be. There’s a discussioncurrently developing on Redditin which several people are venturing guesses as to what city the game will be set in, with multiple people guessing somewhere in California (which malkes sense — the base of operations for the West Coast Avengers is in San Francisco, and the man behind the Iron Man mask, Tony Stark, lives in Malibu).
That having been said, one clever Redditor, who goes by the handle Snipufin, put things into a larger perspective, cosidering Iron Man’s set of powers, saying “It’s not open city, it’s open world, duh. Can’t the guy fly faster than supersonic jets anyway?”
This isn’t the first Iron Man Game in recent memory, butIron Man VRwas released for the PlayStation VR in 2020 andported to the Meta Quest in 2022, and predicting the potential setting of a more conventional action adventure title based on a VR title might not yield the most accurate results. Likewise,Marvel’s Midnight Sunsreleased in late 2022 andfeatures Iron Man as a playable character, but he’s only one of several heroes in the squad-based game, which focuses on much more scaled-down combat in terms of the battlefield size.
