TheFast and Furiousfranchise has been around since 2001, wowing audiences with its thrilling car chases, street racing, heists, and so much more. Starting the movie series withThe Fast and the Furiousstarring Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and others, it kickstarted a franchise thay has endured for more than two decades. Its latest addition wasFast X, which saw the return of many actors, including Dwayne Johnson, who had bid goodbye to the franchise some years back.

With only two more movies left in the main timeline, expectations are soaring high. The two movies left – a bridge movie before the concludingFast X – Part II –are currently in the pre-production phase, and some unsettling rumors have made their way into social media. Things are not looking too good for theJumanjiactor, who came back to the series after a serious clash with its main lead, Vin Diesel.

FastFranchise Brings New Writer On-Board
Industry insider Jeff Sneider in theHot Mic Podcastwith John Rocha recently revealed some information about theFastfranchise. According to sources, the franchise recently on-boarded a new writer for one of their projects. Zach Dean, who wroteFast Xalongside screenwriters Dan Mazeau & Justin Lin, has been roped back in to write anotherFaststory. But whether it isFast X: Part IIor the bridge movie, which as of now is being calledFast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Reyes,is not yet clear.
The new report simply claims that a fresh movie script is being penned for the action-packed series. It could even be for a brand new movie, apart from the two that have already been announced, as there are also rumors about a standalone movie as well as a female led spin-off.

Sneider also said that the script by Oren Uziel and Christina Hodson forFast X: Part IIhas“a lot of good stuff in there”that they can use. But the insider also said that the chances of Dean working on rewriting a project, rather than writing one from scratch, seems much higher.

Dwayne Johnson’s Bridge Movie In Dilemma
Universal Pictures is currently focusing more on theDwayne Johnsonmovie, rather thanFast X: Part II. The Hobbs spinoff is set betweenFast Xand the upcoming installment, being penned by Chris Hudson, who also wrote the 2009 movieFast and Furious. Sneider also touched upon the fact that Dante Reyes, played byJason Momoa, who was the main antagonist inFast X, might not stay as the main villain in the next installment.
A rumor stated that Reyes might even get killed off in the Hobbs spinoff to make way for another big baddie in the series. The character of Reyes was pretty divisive among fans, so the franchise wanting to bring in someone else for their concluding movie does not seem too far-fetched. We are yet to get some clarity on where these movies might be moving toward. Until then, fans of course, have 10 movies already in the bag to enjoy.
