A newDungeons & Dragonsplaytest document has been released, giving fans a chance to preview and test content intended for a book that will update a classic campaign setting.

The D&D players who grow tired of the usual medieval Europe-inspired fare will often find themselves drawn tothe Eberron campaign setting. This is due to Eberron having a moreFinal Fantasyapproach to its world, with a higher level of technology than most D&D worlds, often used alongside magic.

In preparation for thenext Eberron book, a new Unearthed Arcana playest document is now available onD&D Beyond. A video on the official Dungeons & Dragons YouTube channel has outlined some of the changes introduced to the Eberron content, including the Dragonmark Feats.

D&D Is Updating Dragonmark Feats

In the world of Eberron, there are people born with Dragonmarks, providing them with magical powers and acting as a status symbol. These were often tied to selectingthe player’s species.

In the new Unearthed Arcana, Dragonmarks are now classed as Feats, each player can only have a single Dragonmark tattoo at a time, and they have an upgradeable option at later levels. The intention is for characters who develop them later in life, rather than locking the choice to character creation.

A selection of artwork from D&D’s upcoming Dragons Delve adventure anthology was revealed at MagicCon: Chicago.

The Dragonmark Feats tend to come with multiple abilities, making them an excellent choice for Eberron characters. However, it might be tricky for players to convince DMs running campaigns in other settings to let them take one.

It’s not just Dragonmarks that have been changed;the Artificerhas also received some updates. The most notable of these is a new subclass, called the Cartographer, who gains a number of movement and teleportation abilities.

While Eberron might not get as much love asthe Forgotten Realms, it does offer a huge change of pace for most D&D groups. Hopefully, more players will be inspired to check it out when Eberron: Forge of the Artificer launches this year.
