WhileDragon’s Dogma 2is being widely praised by critics and fans, sitting at an impressiveMetacritic score of 87, it hasn’t been without its controversies.

The highly anticipated sequel has managed to claw its way back to a “mixed” review badge on Steam after being bombarded with negative reviews at launch. Many of these reviews were in protest ofCapcom’s ridiculous idea to include microtransactionsin a $70 single-player game. However, there were also complaints surrounding PC performance, but Capcom hasalready laid out plans for future updates.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s latest controversy comes after players called out one of the game’s rather lacklustre “stealth” quests, if you can even call it that.

Dragon’s Dogma 2’s Stealth Quest Is Causing Quite The Stir

Over on the Dragon’s Dogma subreddit, one player has called out one of the game’s stealth quests and called it the worst quest they’ve ever done in a game.

While the user didn’t specify exactly which quest they were talking about, I’m going to hazard a guess that it was in reference toDisa’s Plot. This specific quest occurs shortly after arriving at Vernworth Castle. After speaking with Captain Brant and establishing yourself as the true Arisen, Brant lays out a few different quests to prove to everybody that you are the true Arisen, not Queen Disa.

One of the three quests that can be accepted is Disa’s Plot, which requires the player to sneak into the castle between the hours of 12 AM and 6 AM, with the help of one of Brant’s guards, of course. From here, you’ll need to sneak (I use the word sneak incredibly loosely) past the castle guards and retrieve evidence of Disa’s misdeeds from her office.

Despite being a stealth quest, the game’s AI doesn’t seem to have any problem at all with a complete stranger lurking around the castle grounds. Personally, I took the Marcher’s Armor out of a chest and assumed that was my disguise and the reason why I was able to walk right past guards without an issue. Turns out, I didn’t even need the armor!

“I ran through the castle and the prison without a single problem, had my regular armor (no soldier armor) and able to open every chests, and go in every room,“Reddit user ThrowRA916952 said. “A guard FINALLY arrested me when I opened a random door in jail then put me in prison without my stuff EXCEPT the prison key from Brant lmao. So I opened my own prison door and could escape. A guard saw me and said hello like nothing happened…This was hilariously bad.”

Other users agreed with the author of the post, with fellow players sharing their bizarre experiences with the quest.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 isn’t the first game to include stealth quests without the inclusion of any stealth mechanics, and it continues to be incredibly frustrating and tedious. Thankfully, as pointed out by one of the users above, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a lot going for it. But stealth quests just aren’t one of them.
