One of the major appeals ofDragon Ball: Sparking Zerois the ability to play through the story mode from the perspectives of different characters. Although players must begin their Episode Battle journey as Goku, they will eventually be able to choose from eight characters, including Future Trunks.
Unlike the story mode of the six other characters whose episodes will be available by default, players will have to unlock Future Trunks’ Episode Battle inSparking Zero, along with Jiren’s storyline. How to Unlock Future Trunks Story in Sparking Zero
To unlock Future Trunks’ saga inSparking Zero, players need to commit to the Goku storyline. Thankfully, this is the episode you begin with, so you don’t have to do anything extra. Continue playing the Goku arcuntil you complete the Goku Black saga.

Eventually in the Goku storyline after completing six chapters, you will have to face Fused Zamasu as Vegito Blue. Once you defeat the boss, a cutscene will appear and the Future Trunks Episode Battle will be unlocked.
Much like the other storylines inSparking Zero, there are several pathways in the Trunks Episode Battle. Each arc is triggered through unique interactions, and the battles that follow will depend on the choices made beforehand.
Since the Episode Battle isn’t available from the get-go, you will have to wait a little while before it unlocks. Furthermore, the Trunks saga is more challenging than the others, so be prepared for some epic battles.
Future Trunks Episode Battle Explained
As mentioned before, the choices you make during the Episode Battle will impact the ending you get inSpike Chunsoft’sSparking Zero. In total, there are four possible endings you can achieve, including a canon one.

To get the “Shining Hope” ending, players simply need to finish the “Twisted World” in Chapter 6 by defeating Goku Black and Zamasu. On the other hand,if you are looking to obtain the “Inherited Pride” ending, select the “Stay here and train” option. Eventually, you’ll have to face Vegeta, Gohan, and Piccolo. Defeat these characters, and then join Vegeta in his journey to win the Tournament of Power.
Instead of going with Vegeta during the aforementioned mission, if you stay with Gohan, you’ll get the “Embarking Toward Tomorrow” ending. Lastly, to get the canon ending, finish Trunks’ Episode Battle and then return to Trunks’ original timeline by selecting the “Return to my world” option at the end of Chapter 6.
