Dragon Ball DAIMAis turning heads for all the good reasons. From animation to premise, the series is top-tier in most aspects. Other than that, it is the exploration of various uncharted territories that makes it stand out.

This is true of the series’ world-building aspect. Its focus on the Demon Realm has outlined the caveat associated with the setting. And it clearly has nothing to do with Goku.
Compared to the Universe 7, it falls short in many aspects. This gives the former an upper hand against the realm. Be it Vegeta or Krillin, the characters share a similitude when it comes to their strength.

Additionally, the series subtly signals a major flaw associated with the terrains of the Realm. Not only that, it outlines a core principle of Toriyama’s storytelling which most fans overlook.
Universe 7 has the upper hand on Demon Realm
One of the key aspects of Toriyama’s series is its rich world-building. With a multitude of realms and portals, the anime gives a glimpse into the diversity in the mangaka’s storytelling.
This ties well with Universe 7 and its spotlighting into the plot. Of all the universes in the series, it is famed for itsstrongest fighters. Be it Vegeta or Krillin, the most formidable and heroic warriors were associated with the realm.

DAIMA’s focus on the Demon Realm spotlights several aspects of worldbuilding including the topography of the space. From thick air to the terrain, the spaceproved detrimental for Gokuto move around. But that is not all considering its flaw that gives Universe 7 the upper hand.
Dragon Ball Daima Will Never Let Vegeta Come Out of Goku’s Shadow
On X, Jordan Leepointed toa major detail that most fans overlooked while debating about the Demon Realm.
That’s because they don’t cultivate their chi. That aspect of Dragon Ball is subtly being Pointed at in Daima in a way people have not caught on to yet. Chi and Magic is what separates the 2 realms and the “Gods” of the mortal universe are only gods due to cultivating their chi.…https://t.co/nm41W2B7mz

I guess we also see instances of Magic pretty much overriding Ki (like Babidi being able to teleport even Goku and Vegeta, or him being able to control a presumably much stronger physically Dabura).Hopefully we see some really powerful magic usage
Yeah it seperates them so much that the only magic we’ve seen so far is materialistion of energy and telekinesis…

That’s why Piccolo needs to master magic just like Gas.https://t.co/9L9c92Ks7wHe already has a good grasp of ki, so now he should stop ignoring magic, his talent!
More often than not, the concept of Chi is highly slept on. Be it Kamehameha or Super Saiyan, the characters’ growth and strength had more to do with their mastery of the Ki.
In this aspect, DAIMA pays homage to the series’ central philosophy by revisiting these concepts subtly. This also includes the series’ signaling of the eminence of Ki as a core concept.
Dragon Ball DAIMAsignals Chi’s eminence
WhileDragon Ball DAIMAis deemed a tribute to the late Akira Toriyama, the final project is a faithful work in every sense. This is evident with its highlighting of Chi’s eminence in the story. It circles back to the central philosophy of the series.
Goku’straining with Master Roshi was all about harnessing and channeling Chi. The original 1986 series highlighted his arduous life with the Turtle Sage in mastering his energy.
Years and decades of his training proved fruitful in most of his duels and showdowns. It wasn’t specifically magic or his Saiyan bloodline but his control over his Chi. This is what gives the warriors an upper hand against perilous situations.
Dragon Ball DAIMA Just Made a Niche Pokémon Reference and Thought We Wouldn’t Notice
Like most Shonen series,Dragon Ballhas its unique power system that focuses on Chi as a medium. Goku’s traversing and survival of the Demon World’s perils was made possible through his acclimatization. It is very much attributed to his training.
Dragon Ball DAIMAis available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
