First announced in 2023, fans are eagerly waiting for the fall release ofDragon Ball DAIMA. The anime will tell an original story written by the legendary Akira Toriyama himself. Being the creator’s last project,DAIMAis an extremely important series for the fandom. A new trailer was recently released, and fans can’t stop gushing over it. From the animation style to the glimpses of the characters, the trailer is both nostalgic and reminiscent of the original series.

WhileDragon Ball DAIMAis on the mind of every fan, there’s more that they are looking forward to. The care and attention that have been poured into the series are making fans hopeful about the future of theDragon Ballseries. There are some projects that they would like to see in the future, post-DAIMA. The constant chatter about what might be the next project is a testament to the rich legacy of the series.
Here’s What Fans Want Next from theDragon BallFranchise
As soon as theDragon Ball DAIMAtrailer was released, fans were pleased with the animation quality. However, there are two things most fans are looking forward to in the near future:Dragon Ball DAIMA gamesand the return ofDragon Ball Super. With the pre-existing hype around the series,Akira Toriyama’sDAIMAis bound to attract a lot of attention. Fans are hoping that the attention translates into the creation of other projects, especially JRPG games inspired by the series.
One of the things I hope we get from#DragonBallDaimais the creation of video games based on the show. A classic, 90s beat-em-up and an adventure JRPG. They’re gonna be in#SparkingZero, so that will fill the fighting game quota.pic.twitter.com/lQ60zbZkZb

Daima as everything to be a JRPG this the best thing they could do for a videogame adaptation of daima they can even put secret boss and all kind of stuff
That would be so fun playing adventure game off of that Dragon Ball daima I hope that’s in the works

JRPG would go bananas. Nintendo and the switch could use something
I would kill for a new top down view GBA type dragon ball game. Legacy of Goku was so damn good. Doesn’t need great graphics but hd-2d would look amazing.

The return ofDragon Ball Superis the best thing that could happen at this point in time. However, given that both the manga and the anime are on an indefinite hiatus with no information regarding their potential return, the games seem like the more likely possibility. The last episode ofDragon Ball Superbefore the hiatus, aired in 2018. Since then, it has been six years with no updates.
Dragon Ball DAIMA: Everything You Need to Know About Akira Toriyama’s Mysterious Demon Realm Before Goku Makes His Long Awaited Return
The manga’s hiatus might have pushed back the anime’s return even more. The last chapter before the hiatus was published in March 2024. For now, the future ofDragon Ball Superappears quite bleak.
When Will it beDragon Ball Super’sTurn?
After looking at the high quality of animation inDAIMA, fans are wishingDragon Ball Superanime to get the same treatment. With its last episode, the anime reached the end of the Tournament of Power Saga in the manga. Since then, more than fifty chapters have been released, leaving almost four arcs unadapted. There’s enough content for almost a hundred episodes if the anime follows the same standards as the pre-hiatus schedule of Super.
Akira Toriyama’s Last Minute Decision Might Have Saved Dragon Ball DAIMA from an Inevitable Failure
Furthermore, if the manga resumes serialization, there’ll be more chapters coming out every month. Hopefully, the success ofDAIMAwill inspire the creators to push for what fans want from the franchise. Although, it seems like just wishful thinking at this point. All we can do for now is wait, but on the brighter side, there’sDragon Ball DAIMAcoming out in the meantime!
Dragon Ball DAIMAis scheduled for an Aug 19, 2025 release. The rest oftheDragon BallSeries is available for streaming on Crunchyroll.
