Diddy took center stage at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards alongside Usher and Kate Beckinsale to present the awards for two prestigious categories. He was arguably over the top while presenting Best Score to Alex Ebert, and later Best Original Song to U2. While Sean Combs was all in the party mood, U2 frontman Bono wasn’t having any of it.

Their awkward hug where Bono was visibly annoyed was one of the most discussed moments in that edition of the Golden Globes. U2 and Bono were on stage to receive the award for the songOrdinary LovefromMandela: Long Walk To Freedom. It was a pretty touching moment for them which the disgraced hip-hop mogul should’ve caught on.
Diddy and Bono Shared An Awkward Hug At The Golden Globes 2014
Sean “Diddy” Combsdid not impress any fans back in 2014 when hemade quite a spectacle of himselfduring the Golden Globes Awards ceremony. He was already in the party mood when he got to the stage to present the awards. When Alex Ebert came to receive the Best Score award, Diddy attempted to establish a friendship, mentioning their meeting at a boat party. Ebert didn’t seem to mind theLast Nightsinger’s antics much.
Diddy carried the same attitude when presenting Best Original Song to the Irish band, U2. As the band took the dias, Diddy welcomed the band with hugs and a sing-song,“Let it flow, let it flow, let it flow.”While the Edge aka David Howell Evans chose to return the hug, the lead singerBonowasn’t happy with the possible reference to the famed open-bar policy at the Golden Globes.

Fans next saw one of the most awkward hugs at an awards event, with Diddy leaning in to embrace the singer while he visibly tried to dodge the hug (via YouTube). Paul Hewson aka Bono clearly had a reason not to entertain theComing Homesinger.
“One of the fastest settlements in American history” is How Diddy Lost a Chunk of His Net Worth to Cassie
Diddy apparently was ignorant about the significance of the moment, which the singer’s words about his award proved later. Bono shared (via Clevver News | YouTube):
This really is personal for us—very, very personal. This man [Nelson Mandela] turned our life upside-down, right-side up, a man who refused to hate, not because he didn’t have rage or anger, but that he thought love would do a better job.

We wrote a love story, a love song, rather, because it’s what is extraordinary about the film. It’s a dysfunctional love story…You don’t know about the man, that’s why you should see this film. We’re good at the dysfunctional love stories, thank you.
It is easy to imagine Bono’s apparent annoyance at the antics of the hip-hop mogul when he was there to honor a civil rights leader.Idris Elba, who played Nelson Mandela inMandela: Long Walk To Freedom, was seen applauding throughout U2’s acceptance speech. It appeared that Bono put aside any issue with Diddy during the after-party where they were seen in photos together (via IB Times UK).
