Jason Blundell has departed from Deviation Games, the studio has confirmed via a newstatement. Blundell was the co-founder of the recently formed development studio and was well-known as the co-studio head of Treyarch prior to his departure in 2020.“Deviation Games is announcing that Jason Blundell has left the studio”, reads the studio’s announcement. Deviation Games went on to say that the company will “continue to be led by CEO Dave Anthony, who also assumed the role of Game Director this past year and remains a guiding force as we look ahead”.RELATED:Overwatch 2 New Hero “Kiriko” Has Been LeakedIn the wake of Blundell’s departure, Deviation Games confirmed that Louis Castle would be joining the studio as Senior Vice President of Development. Castle is an industry veteran who is best known for creating the legendary Command and Conquer franchise.Deviation Games now has a team of industry veterans that have worked on titles such as God of War, Call of Duty, and more huge AAA titles. It wasn’t made clear exactly why Blundell decided to depart from the studio only a year after its inception, but the announcement from Deviation Games states that they “appreciate the contributions Jason has made”.

Back in 2021, Dave Anthony and Jason Blundell spoke to Geoff Keighley at Summer Game Fest about the creation of the studio. The pair also confirmed that they would be working in partnership with PlayStation to develop a brand-new original IP. In the announcement blog post, Anthony confirmed that development had already begun, but specific details on the new IP couldn’t be shared. However, the CEO of the Deviation Games did state that they are “drawing on what we’ve learned over our collective decades making games, but we’re also out to make something fresh and brimming with innovation like you’ve never experienced before”.

It’s unclear whether or not Blundell’s departure from the company will affect the development process of Deviation Games' project.
