A new extended clip of the kitchen fight from the trailer has now been released and Patel looks like a million bucks performing some well-choreographed action sequences. The gritty and brutal action style reminds one ofKeanu Reeves‘John Wickfranchise.
Patel seems to be extremely committed to the action sequences and like Reeves, is doing all the intense fighting and stunts himself. The film can be the start of a new action franchise that may even stand toe to toe with theJohn Wickfranchise. It remains to be seen whether Patel’s first film as a director makes a splash and earns the love of audiences like Reeves’ beloved action franchise.

Dev Patel‘sMonkey Manrecently premiered at SXSW 2024 with a great response from audiences. DirectorJordan Peele who co-produces the filmwith Patel was also present at the event and introduced the film and its director before the film’s screening. He had high praise for the film stating that it deserves to be seen on the biggest screen possible with a large crowd.

The film reportedly received a standing ovation from the enthusiastic crowd at SXSW (viaDeadline). The film seems to be a bonafide hit for Patel and Peele seems to be incredibly confident about its potential. The film which also stars Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikandar Kher, Vipin Sharma, and Ashwini Kalsekar hits theatres on July 28, 2025.
