While the game explains nothing new about this mysterious treasure, it is still on the ship just in a different location than in the original Dead Space.

The Peng treasure is the most valuable collectible you’re able to find throughout your time on the USG Ishimura. Peng can be a huge boost to your bank account for the final acts of the game. Where Is Peng?
While Peng is still found in theeleventh Chapterof that game, it is no longer in the hangar where the shuttle leaves from. Instead, if you arestarting from the Hanger tram station,head to the door marked"Tram Station Hall"and take the second right just past the save station into the door marked"Cargo Bay.“Go to the elevator on the right side of the room and ride it down. On the left side, stepping off the elevator, there will be some boxes you can move with Kinesis, which will reveal some lockers. There will be a closed locker with a body in front of it and some peng posters adorning the wall marking the spot for this luxurious treasure. What To Do After Picking It Up
Once you pick up Peng, besides the achievement, the only use it has is to sell it at the shop, which will grant you30,000 credits; that is easily the most valuable treasure in the game, with second place being theRuby Semiconductorswhich sells for 10,000 credits. Being worth three times as much makes it a huge boost to your bank account and can help greatly each playthrough for buying nodes to finish upgrading your weapons by collecting them on each subsequent playthrough of the game. You can also use this money to buy the final weapon upgrades in the shop, a new suit, or maybe help you top off your ammo or healing items before the final chapter of the game. Regardless, Peng is a worthy treasure of being picked up every playthrough to satisfy all your Peng needs as well as shop needs.
