As the development of the DCU is still underway, there are still quite a lot of unknowns that are yet to be worked upon by James Gunn and Peter Safran to make them fit into the narrative in the future. With so many different rumors floating around about all the possible heroes and villains that are planned and will be joining the franchise in the future, Dave Bautista as Bane seems to be the case most likely.

Since Gunn had repeated several times how he was always inclined to work with stars he has in the past as much as possible, the former WWE superstar fits the description of Bane perfectly.
But this might not be how the character should be portrayed according to many fans, who want a Latino actor to play the role to make it lore-accurate, something that Christopher Nolan’s version of the antagonist inThe Dark Knight Risescompletely missed with Tom Hardy.

How Dave Bautista As Bane In The DCU Might Create Problems With Fans For James Gunn
The potential of the upcoming DCU is infinitely vast and that much more complex and diverse, which is why if CEOsJames Gunnand Peter Safran are to turn this franchise into something beloved by the fans, then they would have to dig deep and find out what is it they want. And with the rumors about the casting ofDave Bautistaas Bane in the future isn’t something comic book enthusiasts are looking forward to.

The sentiment isn’t against the former WWE superstar because he is the actor with the most probability of becoming one of the major antagonists of the franchise, the fans only want a fair representation of stars in regards to their ethnicity. Since Bane was a character that was Latin in the lore from DC Comics, many want the next stars to be of Latino heritage to play the character in the upcoming films in the DCU.
This was one of the big gripes of comic book fans with Christopher Nolan’s decision to castTom Hardyas the antagonist in his iconic superhero filmThe Dark Knight Risesas the character’s ethnicity is a big part of who he is as an individual.

Since he never knew his White father, a villain of Batman named King Snake, he was raised by his Latina mother, who nurtured him when he was born in the Pena Duro prison colony of Santa Prisca and only knew what his mother told him. He was imprisoned there with his mother for his father’s crimes and only had his unbelievable strength and intellect going for him, something that he used to become the Bane we all know today.
Thus, if the villain is to be explored in the upcoming franchise, it’ll be integral for the accuracy of the origin story of Bane to be of Latin descent.

Why Is Bane an Iconic Antagonist?
Bane is considered to be one of the most menacing foes in the DC Comics universe for the sole reason that he was by far the only one who broke Batman on all possible fronts where he usually has the upper hand.

Batman uses his superior and honed intellect to get the better of the enemy along with solving crimes and uncovering mysteries, but Bane is on a whole other level when it comes to raw intelligence. Along with that, Batman also has strength that’s greater than any average human’s, which gives him an edge in combat. But Bane boasts of almost superhuman strength, which he uses with his vast intellect to break Batman both physically and mentally.
