In the game, the players can find Combat items, and theseconsumables can be equipped before combat to offer bonuses or effects during an enemy encounter.Using these items can decide whether an encounter is won or the run is lost. Here are some of the best Combat items that the player can find and use in the game.

10Healing Salve

The Healing Salve is a powerful Combat item that canheal the selected Hero target for 33% of their health.Heroes can have upwards of 2 of these equipped at a time. This Combat item is very useful to have if the player doesn’t have a dedicated Hero with targeted healing Skills or if they don’t want to use up a turn to heal with a Skill.Healing Salves are very common and can be purchased frequently at Provisioners or Hoarders.

9Crow’s Feet

Crow’s Feet are Traps that inflict enemy party-wide Bleed 1 Damage, -20% Movement resistance, and -2 Speed all for 3 turns. This Combat Items utility is immense, with it being a good way to slow down fast enemies and to get some early encounter damage in.A Hero can only have up to 2 of these equipped at a time.

8Stimulants

Stimulants give 1 Strength Token and +5 Speed for 3 turns when used. This combat item can either be used early on in an encounter or near its end to finish off a strong enemy. With its boost to Damage by +50% for the Hero’s next attack; this Combat item can see used for any location. The player should save this item for some of the game’s hardest fights,as only two can be equipped per Hero at a time.

7Medicinal Herbs

Medicinal Herbs are some of the most common Combat Items that the player can find in a Provisioners shop. This item removes Bleed, Blight, and Fire on a targeted Hero when used. There are better alternatives to the Medicinal Herbs, but as they’re common and can remove all three status effects on a Hero, it has a lot of early-game utility.Additionally,if the Plaguedoctor has these equipped, her Healing Given is boosted by +50%if she has her Class Trinket Annotated Textbook equipped. Only 2 of these items can be held by each Hero at a time.

6A Glimmer Of Hope

A returning mechanic from Darkest Dungeon, keeping the Torchlight lit on your journeyis a must to prevent enemies from gaining an advantage in combat. One such way of keeping it lit is by using the Combat item A Glimmer Of Hope; it gives +15 Flame to the Torch when used in Combat. This is an extremely useful item as, other than it, only some non-combat encounters throughout your expedition offer Flame for your Torchlight.Players can have up to 4 of these equipped per Hero.

5Mineral-Rich Spring Water

It’s very easy for Stress to build up in the game, so it’s imperative that players manage their Heroes' stress levels as they fight enemies.Mineral-Rich Spring Water removes up to -3 Stress when used and heals 10% of a Hero’s health. This Combat item should be sought after for some of the game’s hardest encounters, especially when fighting Cosmic enemies who have many Stress-Inflicting Skills.

4Thunderclap Grenade

Disrupt an enemy encounters formation with the Thunderclap Grenade. This Combat Item shuffles an enemy party into different positions along with a+25% Chance to Stun enemies.A powerful item, it can expose an enemy’s back-line if it manages to push them to the front, making it easier for your frontline to attack them, along with the potential to Stun them out of a turn. Only 2 can be held by each Hero.

One of the worst status effects of them all,the Horror status effect, causes an affected Hero to gain Stress per turn. One way to cure Horror is by using Laudanum, a Combat item that removes Horror and cures -1 Stress. This is an amazing item to keep on hand when facing Cosmic enemies, asCosmic enemies have Horror-inflicting attacks.Additionally, with it allowing up to 4 being equipped to each Hero, 1 Hero would have enough to cure the whole party in a single turn.

2Pustule Salve

A direct upgrade to both the Healing Salve and Medicinal Herbs, the Pustule Salve removes Blight, Fire, and Bleed; and heals the targeted Hero by +25%.The only downside of this Combat item is its rarity in the early game, as it’s very powerful.Even though its healing percentage is a little lower than the Healing Salve, its sheer utility should be more than enough for the player to invest in purchasing some when found.Only 2 can be equipped per Hero.

1Invigorating Intoxicant

Making the best of a bad situation in a bottle, the Invigorating Intoxicant is your last chance at victory. Providing+25% Resistanceto Deathblow,+6 Speed, and +10% Critical chance for 3 turns, this Combat item will help you eke out a way of a losing battle. It’s highly suggested to equip one Hero with this item’s maximum of 2 for the final fight in the Mountain, as it’ll buy you time when your advantage inevitably fails.Thankfully you’re not fighting this horrifying boss in the game.
