The anticipation ofOne Piecelive-action season 2 has reached a whole new level ever since new members joining the cast for the journey were announced. While fans are excited to see some new faces in the upcoming series, the love for the OG actors who worked in the first season is still skyrocketing amidst the fanbase.

One of these actors who left a big impression onOne Piecefans was Mackenyu Arata, who played the fan-favorite Roronoa Zoro. The role of the Straw Hat Pirates’ swordsman was justified by Mackenyu, as he managed to portray the same calmness and strength for which Zoro is known in theOne Pieceuniverse.
However, it looks like the actor might be bringing a big change to his role in the upcoming series, as a recent photo of Mackenyu suggests that he has been working hard in the gym. Although this might be a good thing for the actor, it is not a good thing for his role as Zoro, and fans have some opinions about it.

Mackenyu Decided To Muscle Up ForOne PieceLive-Action Season 2
A few days ago, @animenewsexpress on Instagram shared a post that revealed that Zoro’s actor, Mackenyu, is getting big forOne Piecelive-action season 2. The user attached a screenshot of a story with the post showing Mackenyu’s physical gains. The actor is getting bulked up as he trains for the upcoming season.

The photo was shared by Mackenyu’s trainer in South Africa, where the production of the second season of the series is in the works.

Mackenyu’s bulking is clearly reflected in the screenshot, and it seems like the actor is ready to once again portray his charm as the swordsman of the Straw Hat Pirates.
It certainly aligns with the original story, as in theOne Pieceanime and manga series, Zoro decides to hit the gym after the East Blue saga, but his physical structure only broadensafter the time skip. Thus, there might be some issues with the continuity in the second season of the live-action series.

One PieceFans Don’t Seem Too Happy With Mackenyu’s New Muscles
WhileMackenyuhitting the gym is eye candy for his female (and male) fanbase,One Piecefanatics might not be impressed by it. Mackenyu’s physical appearance in the first season fit perfectly with pre-time skip Roronoa Zoro, and it was supposed to continue till the Sabaody Archipelago arc. But this might change, as Mackenyu has already gotten big in terms of the muscles.
He might not look the part, and fans believe that this might disrupt the narrative and the truthfulness of the live-action series to the original source.

Thus, when Mackenyu’s photo went viral on Instagram,One Piecefans had a few words to say about it, and not all of them were positive.
tsukataberu commented:
Damn Zoro! The time skip didn’t even come yet
zoodar_official commented:
Too early in the timeline, dude got lost, and just skipped the time skip
daisyueda commented:
It’s a little early for time-skip, I think
6cammm commented:
Bro didn’t know he was suppose to wait for another 4-5 seasons
fabryespo_ commented:
Too much! Wait for the time skip!
Although Mackenyu’s dedication to the role is certainly commendable, he might have to lose some of the muscle mass and go back to being lean as it fits Zoro’s pre-time skip description. But, considering the modifications that the live-action made with season 1, maybe there is a reason why Mackenyu is working hard in the gym.
