Night City is the dystopian megacity that just keeps on giving. Following the success of the anime series Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a new manga series titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS is set to be released in February 2026.

Dark Horse Comics, which has previously published a number of comics and graphic novels within theCyberpunk 2077universe, has once again collaborated with CD Projekt Red to bring us the origin story of Edgerunner fan-favorites such as Rebecca, Pilar, and Kiwi.

Expect an all-new cast of characters and story.

A short synopsis from Dark Horse states: “Rebecca grows up with her big brother Pilar as they pursue their shared dream of becoming a legendary edgerunner like their father. In the megalopolis of Night City, where obsessions with technology, violence, and power run rampant, they struggle, suffer, and cause chaos wherever they go! As they go about their daily lives, a mysterious man appears before them—changing the trajectory of their future.”

Additionally, an exclusive preview of Volume 1 will debut early to fans this summer at Anime Expo and San Diego Comic-Con and features a unique, bright neon cover.

The Return of Familiar Faces

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS will presumably be a four-part series, much likethe other Cyberpunk 2077 comics. Previous stories, such as Trauma Team and Psycho Squad, have typically focused on new, original stories rather than bringing in recognizable characters from the game or anime show.

Writer Bartosz Sztybor, who previously authored Cyberpunk 2077 comics Blackout, XOXO, You Have My Word and more, will be teaming up with illustrator Asano (BNA: Brand New Animal) to deliver the prequel.

It is the first time Rebecca and Pillar will have appeared in comic form, and some fans havealso noticed the appearance of Kiwiin the cover art is different from the anime. Rather than the masked appearance she has in the show, this time we see her full face, presumably before some kind of incident which will be explained in the manga.

Meanwhile, as a full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 still seems a way off, CD Projekt Red is planning to deliver anothermajor update to the original game.

Given thatthe next game will take place in an all-new settingand perhaps a new time period, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS could be one of the last chances we get to see the official version of these iconic Night City characters.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS Volume 1 is set to release on February 24th and will be available “wherever books are sold”.
