TheUbisoftMontreal-developed beat ‘em upScott Pilgrim vs. The World– Complete Edition has appeared onSteamafter almost two years of exclusivity on Epic and Ubisoft stores, but the torrent of technical issues – as reported by Steam users – makes it hard to celebrate the long awaited arrival.
The game implements Denuvo anti-tamper software, which is believed to impact the performance of many games – as theTekken director revealed once before– as well as other privacy concerns for user information. Having the game on Steam also doesn’t mean you are exempt from the need to login using an Ubisoft account and launcher, which sadly doesn’t carry your achievements (for some players) to the Steam version despite being tracked through Ubisoft Connect.

Players are also reporting terrible audio quality, which is just not fun for a game with such an iconic soundtrack from the Chiptune pop and rock band Anamanaguchi, and very lengthy input lags even in local matches, not to mention online co-op not working for many users. Opinions on controller support are mixed, with some player reporting no controller support at all, while others are saying they have no issues with it. So that could be a problem related to specific hardware setups or the need to manually bind the buttons as some users have done as a workaround.
It should be noted that the game’s audio bug isn’t new though, and it has been around since the first PC port release in 2021. A dedicated user has discovered that the issue is related to how the game creates 8-channel surround sounds instead of 2-channel stereo outputs, which sets the volume of six unused channels to zero, resulting in a severe drop in audio volume and quality. The user – who goes by the name bobmcjr – has released a recent patch online to fix the same problem for the Steam version.
Another user has shared a solution to the controller support, which involves running Steam Big Picture Mode, and hitting the joystick icon next to the game, then choosing gamepad from the templates top menu. Of course, these are all still temporary fixes, and the company has yet to address the issues of the port and the fan criticisms.
