Tisseur is an optional boss inClair Obscur: Expedition 33. Defeating it will make your upcoming encounter withSirènemuch easier, but Tisseur itself is no pushover. You’ll be tested to your limits.
10 Best Multi-Phase JRPG Bosses, Ranked
This isn’t even my final form!
You do have the option of bypassing Tisseur completely. Given its imposing nature and, as we’ll shortly discuss, devastating abilities, that may not be a bad idea. Still, if you’re looking to defeat one of the Axons guarding The Paintress, it’s probably a good idea to take it down.
There’s also a good chance you encounter Tisseur after already killingVisages and the Mask Keeper, and that’s arguably a more difficult encounter, so what’s stopping you?

How to Prepare for Tisseur
There are a couple of different ways to prepare for Tisseur. The first is to bypass the boss altogether and take your chances with Sirène, but what’s the fun in that?
Despite the game all but asking “are yousureyou want to try this boss?” we’ll give things a go.

I cannot stress this enough, though: make sure your entire roster of party members are ready to go. There’s a very, very strong chance you’ll need to use them all.
Best Party Composition for Tisseur
I know I just said it, but it needs to be repeated—you will most likely need every member of your Expedition ready to go to defeat Tisseur.
The party I began the fight with was Verso, Sciel, and Maelle. They died, and I finished the job with Lune and Monoco. How did they die? Stay tuned and find out!

Best Skills for Tisseur
You’ll need to maximize your damage against Tisseur, as the fight is a race against time. We’ll explain more, but for now, here are the important skills for your party to utilize in battle.

Tisseur Abilities Explained
So, let’s start with the good news—this is a single-phase fight. As for the bad news, you’re immediately cursed and have eight turns to defeat the boss before you die. If that’s not fun, then I don’t know what is!
8 Best JRPGs With Time Travel
Time travel is a finicky theme to get right, but when a JRPG nails it, the results are marvelous.
Here’s the full list of Tisseur’s abilities, including the best way to handle them.

How to Beat Tisseur in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Being able toparryand counter Tisseur’s attacks is crucial to being able to kill it before you die from the curse. I cannot stress this enough—every ounce of damage here matters.
There are things you can do to maximize your damage, which we’ll discuss below. One way to “cheat” the curse is to die beforehand and be revived. You’ll be re-cursed after revival, but it’s a chance to let your most powerful party members stay in the fight longer.
One tactic I implemented was to use a party member who had just finished a powerful attack and needed time to recover AP to revive someone else, extracting the full value of my turn. It was better to take that turn off and revive rather than performing a basic attack that did little to no damage.
Make sure you’re familiar with the combat styles of all five of your party members since there’s a good chance in this fight you’ll be using them all.
9 Best JRPGs With Social Links
These games are the closest to social interaction a JRPG fan will ever get.
Another key factor to succeeding is getting the most out of Verso’s Perfection mechanic. Dodging/parrying all oncoming attacks will result in Verso doing more damage as the fight goes on.
Once you’re able to perform Gradient Charged attacks, you’ll be able to maximize your damage profile. Combined with Sciel’s ability to buff your attack power, as well as marking the enemy, you’ll be able to defeat Tisseur before he defeats you.
Tisseur is weak to fire damage.
As for Maelle, she continues to perform well for me thanks to her combo of burning the enemy with a Fire damaged-based weapon while also preparing her Fleuret Fury.Ironically enough, breaking Tisseur isn’t as effective here as you may think, because you actively want to counter its attacks to get in extra damage. Use Fleuret Fury to maximize your damage while in Virtuose Stance.
10 Best JRPGs With Fun Traversal Mechanics
Plenty of JRPGs give you more ways to explore the world than just your own two feet.
Here’s the basic game plan you should follow:
Use Verso’s Delaram weapon to start the fight at B rank and at 50% health. This will increase the amount of damage his Berserk Slash will do. Additionally, any time you use Defiant Strike will further reduce his health, therefore increasing the damage of Berserk Slash.
Maelle will be utilizing her traditional “combo” of burning the enemy with Spark into a Swift Stride to enter Virtuose Stance. From there, use Fleuret Fury to deal maximum damage until you’re out of Virtuose Stance, where you’ll start the “combo” again.
Meanwhile, Sciel can build up Foretell with her abilities, but also keep enough AP to be able to buff Verso’s or Maelle’s most powerful attacks.
Once Sciel has buffed one of Maelle’s or Verso’s potent attacks, Tisseur should be near death with 1 or 2 turns remaining for your party. If the curse kills you, don’t worry, as the rest of your party can enter the battle and finish the job.
I was able to kill Tisseur while countering his combo.
Rewards for Tisseur
After defeating Tisseur, you’ll get the following rewards:
That’s it. You’ve done it. Congratulations! That wasn’t so hard now, was it? (Yes, it was.)
The good news is that your next encounter isn’t an Axon. Seriously, you have to deal with Glissando now, and while it’s certainly easier than an Axon, Glissando isn’t exactly a pushover either.
The better news is that your new Anti-Charm Pictos is exactly what you need to make theSirèneencounter easier.
