6Human Devil Hybrid

In the world of Chainsaw man, various types of devils are named after their unique powers, but we are also introduced toanother branch of creatures known as fiends. This subclass of devils results from when a devil on the verge of death possesses the body of a dead mortal by replacing their heart with its own. The fiends are humanoid but share the physical characteristics of their previous forms and the same abilities.

However, there were some deviations, as both Denji and Katana Man were given the hearts of devils and have the ability to transform at will while maintaining control. Unlike Denji, though, Katana Man revived the Katana devil’s heart from a rouge devil hunter named Akane.

2Cooldown Differences

Katana Man and Denji are closely related to fiends; however, they are not quite the same, given that the human aspect is in complete control of the body rather than the devil. Despite both being hybrids, even the circumstances of their creation are different, as Pochita gave his heart willing to Denji to save his life. On the other hand, the Samurai Sword was given the heart of the katana devil by Akana.

Both characters have similar abilities that make them a perfect match against each other aside from their transformation cooldown time. Denji is shown to transform at will as long as he has sufficient blood to drink, whereas Katana Man has to wait an extended period. The reason remains unanswered, but writers might explain it in future issues.
