As Atlus and Studio Zero announced, today October 29th,marks the beginning of Sheep Week, which will bring us daily new promotional content forCatherine: Full Body, including new trailers and two live streams.
We’re kicking off Sheep Week with a trailer revealing voice actress Rie Kugimiya as the 9th selectable voice for Catherine if you’ll grab the game’s “Ideal Voice” DLC.
As usual, the trailer starts with Catherine sharing with Vincent her opinion on marriage, a conversation you should have memorized by heart by now. The scene then switches to the two of them together in Vincent’s bedroom, with Catherine saying she thought Vincent wanted to see her again, and even if he didn’t, she really did herself.
Kugimiya-san is well known for all the tsundere archetype characters she voiced in anime, one of the most popular examples in the west being Taiga fromToradora.Thankfully, Studio Zero didn’t go the boring, stereotypical way, and describes Rie Kugimiya’s voice for Catherine not as tsundere type but as a “capricious cat” type of voice. I think it’s refreshing and a good thing. All of my favorite roles by Kugimiya-san actually do not include the tsundere characters either: Of course, there’s Rise Kujikawa fromPersona 4, then Mizore inRosario + Vampireand Shannon inUmineko no Naku Koro ni.
During one of thelive events forCatherine: Full Bodyat Tokyo Game Show 2018, besides sharing many tidbits on the game, they did say the voice actresses might be linked to Studio Zero related games.
At this point, unless Studio Zero has a surprise in store, it’s safe to assume the remaining two voices were chosen among Nana Mizuki (Anne), Rina Satou (Makoto), Romi Park (Naoto) or Rie Tanaka (Mitsuru). As a side note, Tomomi Isomura (Hifumi) already confirmed during the stream she isn’t among the Ideal Voices.
Catherine is initially voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro. The DLC voices for Catherine revealed so far are:
You can watch Rise as Catherine in the trailer below.
