Castlevania: Nocturne - Is Richter Stronger Than Trevor
Richter is the latest Belmont to be facing the forces of evil, but is he stronger than Trevor?
Alongside several allies supporting Richter’s plight to thwart Erzsebet Bathory, including Maria Renard, Annette, and Edouard, Alucard made a return from the main series, but is this the end of the road for Richter’s generation? We explain if Castlevania: Nocturne has been renewed for season 2.

Has Castlevania: Nocturne Been Renewed For Season 2?
Not yet. At the time of writing, Castlevania: Nocturne has not been renewed for season 2 by Netflix, but fans shouldn’t worry about its continuation just yet.
Rarely does a new series get the green light to continue into another season before the first run has ended. Therefore, fans of Nocturne will have to play the waiting game for a time. Generally, popular shows often get their renewal confirmed or denied a few weeks up to a few months after the first season’s conclusion, so fans may hear about Nocturne’s longevity before 2023 is over. Furthermore, taking into consideration Castlevania’s four-season stint, Netflix may be looking to match that run with the spin-off or at least deliver two seasons to conclude the story and possibly delve into more characters from the Belmont family tree in subsequent spin-offs.

Castlevania: Nocturne: Belmont Family Tree Explained
Richter is preceded by a number of prominent vampire hunters. Here’s everything you need to know about the Belmont family tree.
If season 2 does get green-lit,fans should expect to see the follow-up season air around late 2024 or early 2025. The parent Castlevania series had anywhere between 12 and 17 months between the airing of its four seasons, and this timeframe is expected to apply to Nocturne as well since it’s being created by the same studio: Powerhouse Animation. However, judging by season 1’s conclusion, we’re willing to bet that season 2 will be renewed without issue.

How Did Castlevania: Nocturne Season 1 End?
After regaining his powers, Richter (Edward Bluemel) regroups with Annette (Thuso Mbedu) and Tera (Nastassja Kinski) in order to target the cathedral and put a stop to Erzsebet Bathory’s (Franka Potente) production of vampires. WithOrlox(Zahn McClarnon) pretending to be loyal to Erzsebet but secretly being Tera’s inside vamp, the odds are stacked against Erzsebet as Richter, Annette, Maria (Pixie Davies), Tera, and Mizrak (Aaron Neil) begin attacking her undead army.
Erzsebet stays true to her word and causes a full eclipse to block out the sun in order for her vampire army to spread across the world, and she also ascends into her new form: the goddess Sekhmet. Tera then allows herself to become a vampire in order to save her allies, and the group escapes despite being chased by a now-overpowered Drolta (Elarica Johnson). With Annette’s sorcery depleted and the rest of the group weary, Drolta moves in for her final attack, but she’s stabbed by Alucard just in time.

Castlevania: Nocturne season 1 essentially ends with Alucard (James Callis), the son of Dracula, returning and vowing to help Richter and company defeat Erzsebet, which leaves the narrative on a cliffhanger. Erzsebet is stronger than ever in her next phase, meaning she will become the ongoing antagonist of the spin-off, and with the main threat of season 1 at her peak, Netflix surely has another season on the way to continue the fight.
Season 2 will also likely explore Richter’s powers inherited from his Belmont ancestry, and with Tera turning into a vampire, her sacrifice will also be explored under Erzsebet’s rising control of the world. Since there’s about a300-year gapbetween the final season of the Castlevania parent series and Nocturne, season 2 may also explore what Alucard got up to in that time since he implied that he’d spent the last three centuries culling vampires.
Furthermore,Castlevania: Nocturne is adapting Konami’s 1993 video game Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and its sequel Symphony of the Night. Since season 1 covered a majority of Rondo of Blood, season 2 is all but confirmed to adapt the events from Symphony of the Night, which is another detail that points to the show’s continuation. However, in the video game, Alucard takes over as protagonist when Richter disappears, and it’s set four years after Rondo of Blood.
