If you’re a fan of sci-fi films from the ’90s, there’s a chance that you’ve watched (and adored)Starship Troopers. Apparently, much ofHelldivers 2’snarrative finds itself wrapped in a similar context, and this has officially been added by the film’s own star.

In a series of posts recently, Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO and Casper Van Dien had an unexpected exchange that has given the community hope for a well-deserved crossover that might just be on its way.
Helldivers 2 x Starship Troopers Might Just Be the Perfect Collab
Live-service games likeHelldivers 2have a reputation for having multiple crossovers throughout the game’s life cycle. At the launch of this intergalactic adventure, fans were still wrapping their heads around the game’s intense mechanics and cinematic sequences. To this day, players haven’t uncovered all that the game has to offer and keep adding to Super Earth’s fight for democracy.

In a surprising turn of events,Starship Troopers’very own Casper Van Dien took notice of the game and Johan Pilestedt’s (Arrowhead’s CEO) love for the movie. Casperaddressedthis and gave fans something to look forward to.
There was also a post about a possible crossover that was soon deleted. Talk about stating the obvious! While there’s no official word about this collaboration, it’s likely that we will see easter eggs and callbacks to the movie inHelldivers 2sometime in the future.

Fortunately, the live-service nature of the game allows for some creative interventions, and it’s likely we’ll see a collab or two in the near future.
Moreover, even though the game isn’t exactly an open world, it has enough open spaces and opportunities for multiple franchises to make a mark. Fans have alreadycompared the game to theStar Warsuniverse, particularly toThe Mandalorian.

With time, these comparisons have grown into a diverse conversation of all that can be. Fans of multiple franchises would love to see the game collaborate with their favorite shows, books, and movies. And it looks like Arrowhead’s CEO is someone who will likely entertain that.
