The mysterious door inPokemon GOis nearly open with the Power Plant event and with it comes some new Pokemon including Helioptile and Heliolisk, which has people wondering if they can be shiny in the game.

Pokemon GO’sPower Plant event starts on Wednesday, January 19, at 10 am local time, which brings with it an increase of Pokemon spawns that would be found within power plants in the mainline games.

On top of the increased spawns of Pokemon like Magnemite, Electabuzz, and Porygon, Helioptile and thus Heliolisk will also be appearing in the game as well.

How To Get Helioptile and Heliolisk

Very fittingly, Helioptile is the Generator Pokemon that is an Electric/Normal type. First introduced in Gen VI, Helioptile evolves to Heliolisk in the mainline games utilizing a Sun Stone and retains its Electric/Normal typing.

When it comes to getting Helioptile inPokemon GO, they will be spawning in the wild during the Power Plant event, though we don’t know how rare of a spawn they will be. Since they are being promoted as a big part of the event though, it would be assumed they’ll be pretty common.

Helioptile encounters will also be available in certain Field Research as a reward, so make sure to spin lots of Poke Stops and complete Field Research to get more opportunities.

To get the evolution Heliolisk, you will need 50 Helioptile Candy and a Sun Stone. You likely have accumulated plenty of Sun Stones by now, but you can get them as a rare item drop from spinning Poke Stops or more commonly as part of rewards for a seven day Poke Stop spinning streak.

Once you have the 50 Helioptile Candy and a Sun Stone, you may easily evolve it into Heliolisk.

Can Helioptile Be Shiny In Pokemon GO?

The Power Plant event in Pokemon will feature a number of Pokemon that are available in shiny form, including Voltorb, Trubbish, and more.

Unfortunately, Helioptile and Heliolisk will not be debuting with their shiny form alongside their regular version.

This is not a huge surprise, as most shiny forms of Pokemon come later tied to events rather than in theirPokemon GOdebut. There are some exceptions to this rule, but this has been the standard for the most part.

Hopefully, Helioptile and Heliolisk will get their shiny form added to the game in the near future, but in the meantime, you should focus on just catching as many as you can during the Power Plant event.
