Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is nearing its release, and one aspect of its gameplay is being criticized passionately and unanimously by everyone. This is the first time any game has implemented such a restriction, which does not make any sense in modern times.

This gameplay restriction has caused a mass outrage amongst fans. The reason for the restriction does not make much sense as well. However, how this is going to play out in reality can only be assessed post-launch once many people try their hands on the game.

The much anticipated release ofCall of Duty: Black Ops 6is being criticized ever since one aspect of the game has unfolded in front of people’s eyes: the game will require you to have an active internet connection to play the campaign mode as well, which is just not done.
Needing an active internet connection to play the campaign mode of any game cannot be justified. Fans have been bummed about this restriction that is bound to hinder the game’s performance in the long run.

Ah, the days when you could play campaign without a worry for an internet connection

The reason for it has to do with decreasing the amount of storage required by the game to run. The game will be using texture streaming across all game modes. The studio claims that by implementing this restriction, it has managed to cut down the storage requirements to a significantly lower number.

However, players are still mad about it since it is not the most comfortable thing that they have in exchange for lesser storage requirements. Having a stable internet connection to run a AAA game requires a lot of power, and having left the functioning of the game through the internet, Activision seems to have shot itself on the foot.
This Restriction Is Bound To Pose Problems In The Future
This might not be the best decision taken by the developer of the game since the news itself has caused an outrage amongst fans.Call of Dutytitles are notoriously known for their large file sizes. These games are often criticized for being too large for their own good.

Even the recentCall of Dutytitle,Modern Warfare 3,which was made available on Xbox Game Pass, exceeded more than 150GB. It is only natural thatBlack Ops 6would be even larger than its predecessor, and in order to maintain it, the recent restriction has been implemented.
However, it might not be the best thing in the long run since requiring an internet connection at all times might not be possible for everyone. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments below.
