Borderlands 4is Gearbox’smost ambitious Borderlands game to date. Among the collection of exciting new features, its new open-world format is perhaps one of the most highly anticipated changes.
To streamline the open-world experience as much as possible,Borderlands 4will adopt a newquality-of-life changewhereyou can now summon a single-person vehicle called the Digirunner with the single press of a button.

Borderlands 4 To Feature “Billions Of Weapons And Accessories” Says Gearbox
Prepare to be overwhelmed with the number of weapons in Borderlands 4.
During a preview event at the 2K headquarters in Novato, CA, I got to take a look at the starting portion of Fadefields in the open world, all the while shooting down bad guys and driving the Digirunner.

Now This Is Digiracing!
Perhaps one of the least convenient aspects of the previousBorderlandsgames is thatplayers had to summon a vehicle through Catch-A-Ride stations scattered throughout most maps.
While summoning a 2-player buggy or a 4-person truck can be a fun novelty for players to fly off a cliff with friends in tow, it can also be quite an inconvenience to lose it, forcing players to trek back to the Catch-A-Ride station whenever you need a set of wheels again.

With a single press of a button, players can now summon and digistruct a fresh and fully customizable Digirunner. While it can only fit one player, multi-seated vehicles are rendered obsolete now that everybody has their own Digirunner anyway.
Compared to the previous games, the hovering Digirunner feels reminiscent of the sandskiff inBorderlands 2’sDLC, or the jetbeast inBorderlands 3’sDLCs.

But the closest comparison that many have made to the Digirunner is the Sparrow vehicle fromDestiny 2,or rather, theGryphon, since the Digirunner comes with unique customizable weapons.
Based on what I saw during the preview, your first Digirunner will be a ramshackle rustbucket that has an incredibly loud engineand a weirdly satisfying bass-boosted sound effect during a rocket boost.

Players can expect to be able to fully customize the skin and type of Digirunner they can drive, which, based on the lack of stats or descriptions, suggests that these are only cosmetic changes.
In terms of gameplay, the Digirunner has a basic boost that can recharge when not in use, hop short distances, and shoot with a variety of weapon types from the front.
The weapons that the default Digirunner comes equipped with are a pair of slow-firing machine guns manufactured by Jakobs. Digirunner weapons from other manufacturers will most likely have different, unique effects.
The Digirunner weapons also seem to have stats that can be upgraded, but like the other customizations in the game, they can be unlocked via mission rewards throughoutBorderlands 4.
Since you’re able to summon the Digirunner in the vast open world ofBorderlands 4, traversal inBorderlandshas never been easier.
However, the Digirunner will be the only vehicle that you can drive, so hopefully this new change is one that the majority of players will all be able to get behind.
