Ryan CooglerandMichael B. Jordanhave been on the rise in Hollywood for the past decade. The duo collaborated on Coogler’s debut film before tasting commercial success withCreed. Their work together onBlack Pantheralso received critical acclaim as the film grossed $1.349 billion at the global box office. Therefore, it should suffice to say that Coogler and Jordan are a hit director-actor pair.
The duo will reportedly reunite for a new project that is being produced under Coogler’s Proximity Media. Coogler developed the screenplay based on his original idea. The spec script has been completed and is being reportedly shopped around to streaming services. Jordan is set to star in the project, presumably playing the lead role. However, other details regarding the film such as its plot and characters are a tightly guarded secret.

The upcoming film will be the fifth project featuring Coogler as a director and Jordan as an actor. Coogler served as an executive producer on Jordan’sCreed II. The duo also worked together in 2022’sBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever, which was directed by Coogler and features Jordan in a cameo. They most recently worked together on 2023’sCreed III, for which Coogler provided the story outline while Jordan served as the director and lead actor.

Although Coogler and Jordan’s involvement in the upcoming film by the former’s production company, Proximity Media, is confirmed, other details are being kept under wraps. The title of the film is unknown while its plot is a tightly guarded secret. According to a report fromThe Hollywood Reporter, executives had to travel to the offices of WME, the agency representing Coogler and Jordan, to read the script.

According to some sources, the film will have a period element to it and is being described as a “genre” film. Hence, the movie’s subject material will likely range from science fiction to horror or even fantasy. Insider Jeff Sneiderreportedthat the film has a vampire aspect to it, implying Jordan will play a creature of the night. Coogler is set to produce the film under his Proximity Media banner alongside Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian. There is currently no known release date for the project.
