While the 2002 live-actionScooby-Doofilm was immensely successful, rumors began to spread quite soon that Tim Curry allegedly turned down to play a crucial part in the project.

Curry was allegedly offered to play Emile Mondavarious (main villain) however he turned it down due to a personal reason.

According toScreenrant, he allegedly declined the offer solely because he was not fond of Scrappy-Doo. For the unversed, despite the character’s unpopularity, it made its place in the first film with Scott Innes voicing Scooby-Doo’s nephew.

However, the reports were completely false as the screenwriter,James Gunnhimself clarified the rumor. He shared onX,“It’s absolutely, 100% made up from start to finish. None of it ever happened.”Gunn’s clarification effectively put an end to the persistent myth.

Although this mystery was eventually solved, Curry has a history of turning down some of the nerdy roles in Hollywood.
