Snyder fans loved his characters above all others but many DC fans pointed out the lack of comical accuracy in theRebel Moondirector’s projects. Zack Snyder Has A Very Controversial Take On Batman
Zack Snyderis a controversial director as far as the DC fandom is concerned. While many fans look forward toJames Gunn‘s DCU, there are still many fans who would want Snyder to return to the DC movies. Snyder directedMan of Steel,Batman v Superman, andJustice Leaguein the DCEU before he exited the universe. His recent take on Batman has fans questioning if the director understood his characters in these movies.

During his appearance onThe Joe Rogan Experience, Snyder explained how he came up withBen Affleck‘s Batman persona in the movie. He drew attention to one of the scenes in the director’s cut ofJustice League. In the scene, Bruce Wayne wakes up next to some girl and immediately reaches for his painkillers by his bedside table. He also has alcohol and wine stacked up in his room.
Snyder shared that Wayne is a playboy in the film because that’s how he deals with the huge trauma in his life. He further added that Wayne lives in a glass house with a clean aesthetic, but that’s all the things he has going well in his life. Snyder shared his understanding of the Batman character with Joe Rogan (via @readythearmada | Instagram):

In the Director’s Cut, he wakes up and there’s some chick in the bed with him from the night before. Because I always say, ‘Batman f*cks and forgets for sure. Batman’s a drunk for sure.’ Because he has huge trauma. You wonder why he’s a playboy. Because it’s a real thing. That’s a way to deal with trauma.
Snyder continued:
There’s the bit where he wakes up and there’s just painkillers on his bedside table. He just pops some and drinks some wine. To me, that’s Batman. He’s got a maple thorp above the bed. He’s got his glass house. He has an aesthetic that’s like clean but that’s all he does. That’s like his life.
While Snyder’s take may be applicable to a Batman that he re-invented, the comic book character is very different from Snyder’s portrayal. Snyder’s Batfleck persona wasnot at all relatable to fanswho grew up reading the DC Comics.

Batman is not a drunk, in fact he doesn’t even drink. Alfred gives him apple juice so people think Bruce Wayne drinks. But batman is ALWAYS is in control. If only this guy read a comic.– @its_lucasmartinez

So he wrote batman as Tony Stark… how originally 😂 😂 😂– @graveyardxlight
In Justice league unlimited there is a scene where Bruce has to act like a play boi and even that exhaust him, what is this guy talking, I’m not even a dc fan or batman and me knowing better than him is alarming for sure, glad dceu failed.– @izhaluck
Guy is describing Bizarro-Batman.– @403color
