Recently, speaking withVariety,Barbiesoundtrack producer andI’m Just Kenco-writerMark Ronsonreflected on the question.“That would be great,”Ronson said of Gosling’s potential performance at the Oscars.“Did he confirm to you? I want to know … it’s my dream! It’s my dream,”he added. Previously Gosling also gave an update for the fans regarding his potential performance at the Oscars.“Well, I haven’t been invited,”the actor who secured an Oscar nod for his performance in the film, toldW Magazine.
“And I wasn’t thinking about it until now, and now it’s all I’m going to think about. Do you get paid to sing at the Oscars? Do you have to drive yourself? What kind of scratch is involved? They pick you up at least, right?”
Also, Ronson will not entertain the idea of bringing another singer to perform on Gosling’s behalf.“No. I think if Ryan doesn’t do it then we’re not doing it,”he told the outlet. Gerwig and Robbie’s Oscar snub created a huge uproar, the snub was quite surprising forBarbiefans. The movie was an astounding hit with over $1.3 billion box office collection in ticket sales. However, despite the critical accolades and Robbie’s remarkable performance as the iconic doll Barbie, the actor-director duo failed to secure a place in the nominations.“There is no Ken without Barbie,”Gosling said in a statement after the snub (viaVariety).
“I am extremely honored to be nominated by my colleagues alongside such remarkable artists in a year of so many great films. And I never thought I’d being saying this, but I’m also incredible honored and proud that it’s for portraying a plastic doll named Ken. But there is no Ken without Barbie, and there is no ‘Barbie’ movie without Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie, the two people most responsible for this history-making, globally-celebrated film.”
The 43-year-old added,“No recognition would be possible for anyone on the film without their talent, grit and genius.”The Canadian starcriticized the Oscar voterssayingdisappointmentwould be an“understatement.”This could be one of the main reasons for Gosling declining his potential performance at the Oscars.
