Anew world recordhas been set inBaldur’s Gate 3’s infamous Sex% speedrun, courtesy of American runner Bisc.
Considering a casual playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 can take approximately 100 hours, Baldur’s Gate 3 is a surprisingly fast game for speedrunning. Sex% is a ‘joke’ category but has been surprisingly competitive in the past. There have been fewer runs submitted since Patch 4, an update that made Lae’Zel harder to bed. Bisc holds the world record on both the Pre-Patch 5 (1 minute 52 seconds) and Patch 5+ (3 minutes 24 seconds)leaderboards.
The Quickest Route To Githyanki Heart
The Pre-Patch run was six seconds faster than previous holder Mae’s record, and Bisc believes his run is “unbeatable” with the run’s current strategy. The strategy employed by both runs involves freeing Lae’Zel from her captors as quickly as possible once you escape the Nautiloid, leaping to the Emerald Grove, picking the correct dialogue options with Zorru and then retiring to camp for the big moment.
There wasn’t a lot of difference between the previous record and the new record, except that Bisc’s movement was slightly cleaner in parts. In Patch 5+ runs, Lae’Zel is still the target of your courtship, but you need to “prove” yourself to her following the update to her romance in addition to having sufficient approval. This can be done by defeating a powerful enemy.
The current route is the same as pre-patch, except you need to leap to the Blighted Village and blow up Lump the Enlightened, the intelligent Ogre, adding a couple of minutes to the run.
Whether anyone will be able to beat Bisc’s run remains to be seen. If someone were to beat it without discovering a new exploit, it would probably be by milliseconds.
Bisc is a prolific Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrunner, as he also holds the Any% and Any% All Acts Honour Mode records. The only run he doesn’t hold the world record in is Any% Explorer Mode, where he is in second place by 26 seconds.
