How To Install Mods
Nexus Modsis the hub for everything modding.Players will be able to find, download, and install mods from the website, but only if they have an account (no payment required). But before doing anything, we need to decide on amod manager.
Mod managers function as hubs where you can install, delete, and update your mods without needing to visit the individual mod page every time you need to do so. While Vortex, the official mod manager for Nexus Mods, works fine,BG3MM or Baldur’s Gate Mod Manageris a lot easier to use and customized for Baldur’s Gate 3 specifically, making it the optimal choice.

Is It Safe To Install Mods
In general, yes. However, understand that when you install a mod and use it during a playthrough, that mod becomes a part of that save file, and if you uninstall it afterward, the game will tell you that a mod file is missing when you go to load up a save that had that mod previously enabled. You’ll have to look up the mod’s main page, FAQ, and How to Uninstall section to understand how to uninstall that mod safely.
Make sure that the mods you are installing are keptup to date with the latest version of Baldur’s Gate 3.Look at the ‘Last Update’ section on the mod page and if that date is after the last patch drop, you’re in the green.
How To Update Mods
Baldur’s Gate 3 is still a relatively new game and getsregular updatesin the form of big and small patches quite regularly fromLarian.Each new update may or may not break the mods that you have currently installed on your setup. So, as a general rule,active mod authorswill update their mods to work with the latest patch. You’ll need to redownload and install each of these after they’re updated. Wait a day or two to give the mod authors a chance to update their mods.
If a mod doesn’t get updated, in most cases, it will simply stop working.As in, you’ll still be able to play the game with it installed, but it will just stop doing what it’s supposed to. Butin rare cases, this can prevent your save file from loading.
If this happens, try looking at the‘Posts’section on the mod page. There are likely other people in the same boat as you, and someone is likely to have posted the solution there if the mod author hasn’t fixed the problem themselves.

Can You Use Mods On Xbox & PS4/5
No, unfortunately. The Xbox and PlayStation versions of Baldur’s Gate 3 do not support modding.Given time, it is possible that this may change as other games have added mod support to their console versions over the years, and Larian Studios is famously pro-modding.
