When you begin act two ofBaldur’s Gate 3, one quest line that carries over from act one is to rescue the Ironhand deep gnomes. Wulbren, the deep gnome’s leader, is beingheld at Moonrise Tower. It’s up to your party to rescue him.

You won’t be able to complete this quest until you have a waythrough the shadow curse. This means eitherhelping the Harpers ambush the Absolute convoy, killing them at their camp and taking their lantern, or use the convoy to infiltrate the tower yourself. Once you’re in, you can start the rescue.
Where To Find Wulbren
Once inside Moonrise, look around the first floor for a set of stairs heading down. You’ll arrive at theMoonrise Prisons, where the Absolutists are holding Wulbren — and some tiefling survivors if you aided them in act one. You can find all the prisoners along a wall facing the central tower, locked in their cells.
How To Free The Prisoners
To speak with Wulbren, you’ll have to either wait for the guards to pass, or succeed in aspeech checkto have them allow it. Wulbren will tell you he has an escape plan, all he needs is a tool to break stone. When the guards aren’t looking, take ablunt weaponfrom your inventory, ideally a maul or warhammer, andpass it through the prison bars.
Wulbren is ready to begin, but you will need to deal with the guards while they escape. You can make this quite easy for yourself with ahigh Strength character. Tell Wulbren to wait for your signal.
As the guards pass you by, you canshove them into the chasmto fall to their deaths. If you time it right, you won’t even enter combat. Just be sure youdestroy the scryingeyeas well.
Give Wulbren the signal, and he will break himself and the tieflings out. Watch for any more guards that appear. If none show, enter the central tower and kill the prison warden. On the first floor of that tower, you will see levers on the wall. They control the cell doors.Open them all to join the deep gnomes at their escape boat.

Return To Last Light Inn
Join the gnomes on their boat back to Last Light Inn. Once they disembark and get cleared to enter, find Wulbren inside the inn to collect your reward. If you rescued the tieflings as well, you’re able to speak to Alfira and Rolan to collect more rewards.
