Wyrm’s Rock Fortress is a massive castle that separates the Lower City of Baldur’s Gate from the town of Rivington. You’ll be here several times to deal with Lord Enver Gortash or to rescue the Duke of Ravenguard. But there’s a secret under this fortress you may have missed: a dragon. Yes, there’san entire dragon tucked awayin the large city.

From the revealed path you can get to the Wyrmway, where you’ll find the Dragon’s Sanctum. Poke around and be ready to use those Arrows Of Dragonslaying you’ve been buying.

9The Fish People
There’s an entire floppy race of fish people in Baldur’s Gate 3, and you may miss them entirely if you don’t inspect everything you find. TheKuo-Toa in Act 1 worship a ‘god’ called Boooaland they can be found in the Underdark with some careful exploring.
The entrance to the Festering Cove is well-hidden and can be found near the Arcane Tower in the Underdark. You’ll see a gap with mushrooms you’re able to use to hop around, and some torchstalk waiting to blow you up. Destroy the torchstalk with an arrow and then jump across the gap to find the Cragged Wall. Climb down to meet the tribe of Kuo-Toa and save them from their ‘god’.

8The Spider Hole
Early in the game, your Perception score is probably pretty low, so you might havemissed the Spider Egg Sacnear the Harper Stash, just north west of the Roadside Cliff Waypoint. The Spider Hole can be found at X: 138, Y: 365 and you’ll need to pass a perception check to note the hole in the rock.
Pass several Investigate and Nature checks to retrieve a Spider Egg Sac. Throwing or breaking the Spider Egg Sac will unleash 5 spiders to follow your commands, and they’re a good help in a fight. However, this is a single-use item, so save it for when you need it. These spiders aren’t around forever, either, and will vanish when you long rest.

7The True Love Rings
Romance is a big part of Baldur’s Gate 3 with many companions you can woo and spend time with. Bestow your beau with one of a pair of powerful rings found in Act 2 to really show your commitment. True Love’s Caress is a rare magical ring that can be found in the cemetary outside Thorm Mausoleum in the Shadow Cursed Lands of Act 2. At X:150, Y:43 you’ll spot a skeleton you can loot to get True Love’s Caress.
Baldur’s Gate 3: 10 Early Game Items To Not Throw Away
Baldur’s Gate 3 showers you with so much loot, it’s hard to keep track of what’s junk and what’s important. This list details the most important.
The pair to this ring is True Love’s Embrace and can be found in the House Of Healing at X:-209, Y: 0. There is a skeleton lying on a mattress which contains the True Love’s Embrace ring. The two characters wearing the rings will gain Gentle Warding Bond, which gives +1 to AC and Saving Throws, and resistance to all damage.

6Akabi The Cheat
You probably ran into the Circus of Last Days on your first playthrough, spun Akabi’s Wheel of Wonders, lost, and decided it wasn’t worth the time or gold when the game is so obviously rigged. There are some pretty good items to be won from the Wheel of Wonders if you have a sense of humor, but the jackpot itself is the real deal. Use a character with a high Perception to notice the Djinn Akabi is obvously cheating.
He has an item called the Djinni Ring that lets him cheat, so you’ll need to pick his pockets and take it. Now spin the Wheel of Wonders again and you’ll win! Akabi won’t be happy you tricked him, and he’ll send you to the middle of nowhere. You’ll be able to sneak or fight your way through the dense jungle. Find the Painted Chest and take the legendary trident Nyrulna, which has fantastic stats and abilities like being impossible to disarm, returning when thrown, and creating explosions.
5The Club Of Hill Giant Strength
There’s no real reason to go around smashing all the furniture in Baldur’s Gate 3, even if most things are destructible in some way. But you’ll eventually be rewarded if you do break the right things: the Club of Hill Giant Strength can be found onthe top floor of the Arcane Towel in the Underdark. Whether you fight Bernard or no, you’ll notice a suspiciously-named Stool Of Hill Giant Strength on the far north corner of the room.
Sit on the stool, and it’ll break under you, dropping the Club of Hill Giant Strength. This club increases your strength and weighs very little, making it a great weapon early in the game for Strength-based characters like Lae’zel or Karlach.
Most plays don’t go straight to genocide on their first playthrough, unless you’ve picked the Dark Urge character origin. You’ll be forgiven for taking out the Goblin Camp leaders in an effort to save the Druid Grove and not even noticing when you kill the drow Minthara.Minthara is a romancable companionyou can pick up in Act 1, but you’ll have to do some pretty wicked deeds to recruit her.
You’ll have to betray the Druid Grove and side with the Absolute, which will make some party members immediately and permanently leave your party. You have to kill everyone in the Druid Grove and lead the attack, too. Minthara and the goblins will join your camp for a party, and you can have your first run-in with her. Minthara has a great storyline and a wonderfully written romance if you’re willing to get your hands dirty.
3The Strange Ox
You probably noticedthe Strange Oxthe first time you saw him in the Druid Grove in Act 1. But he appears in all three acts and can even be recruited as an ally for the final fight of Act 3. The Strange Ox can be talked to with Speak With Animals and can share some pretty gruesome images with you if you pry enough. The Strange Ox can be found again in Act 2 at the Last Light Inn where Dammon is to the east.
Don’t push his buttons and he’ll find you again in Act 3 in Rivington. The Strange Ox will be on a hill by the Requisitioned Barn and you can talk to him again. He’ll ask you for a favor: Help The Devilish Ox. He’ll ask you to smuggle him into the Lower City and if you do so you’ll be granted the Shapeshifter’s Boon Ring and gain the Strange Ox as an ally at the end of the game.
2The Dog Collar
The Underdark has many secrets. You probably explored the Arcane Tower to the southwest, and maybe you even picked up the Light Of Creation from Bernard. Within the Arcane Tower is a button you can’t seem to figure out the purpose of, so you probably forgot about it. Head to the Sussur Tree Waypoint and walk south until you find a nice wide open clearing.
There’s a tombstone you can interact with to reveal it is the grave of a dog. Dig up the grave andtake the Dog Collar from the skeleton. Head back to the Arcane Tower and that interesting little button. Put the Dog Collar on in your necklace slot and press the button. Ta-da: the button dispenses food for the dog wearing the collar. How cute! This is just an easter egg, but a fun one.
No, not a shovel for digging. Shovel isan adorable quasit you can summonin Act 1 who can become a permanently summonable familiar. In the Apothecary Shop of the Blighted Village you’ll find a hidden cellar. This is the same location where you might have found the Necromancy of Thay. Inside the coffins underground you’ll be able to pick up a Scroll Of Summon Quasit.
Don’t learn this scroll as a wizard, or you’ll never be able to summon Shovel again. Instead, talk to her after you summon her with the scroll and she’ll teach you to summon her any time. Shovel has some fantastic dialogue and great abilities, making her a nice familiar to have on hand.
