It’s important to start on the right note inAvowed. You are, after all, here to save the world from the Dreamscourge.

Thankfully,Avowedis more streamlined than theseopen-world RPGs, so getting good gear is surprisingly easy and quick.

Sheathed In Summer

Our list of the best early-game weapons inAvowedwill have you ready to handle anything The Living Lands throws your way. Here are five of my favorites.

If you miss some of these, don’t worry, asthey’ll scale with your level to have improved statsif you come back to find them!

The games Fallout: New Vegas, South Park: The Stick Of Truth, and Pentiment, from Obsidian Entertainment.

7Sheathed In Summer

For When You Want To Stabby Stab

The unique dagger is an excellent choice for dealing damage early inAvowed, especially if you’re going for a rogue-style build.

Not only does it deal 10% bonus Fire Damage on hits, butthe base enchantment means that a full combo of attacks gives enemies Fire Accumulation.

Drawn in Winter

Every Obsidian Entertainment Game, Ranked

Founded in 2003, Obsidian Entertainment is one of the best storytellers and developers in gaming, so here’s a look through their extensive catalog.

Ideally, you’ll be spending a lot of time hitting enemies as fast as possible with this dagger, meaning they’re going to build that Fire Accumulation up quickly. Before you know it, they’ll be burning and taking extra damage.

Caeroc’s Pride

Where to obtain Sheathed In Summer:Defeat Octav the Firebrand at The Godless Ruins northwest of Paradise in Dawnshore. Octav is the objective of a bounty in the region, which means you should have a side quest to track him down.

6Drawn in Winter

If you’d rather bash enemies with an axe, boy, do I have the early gameAvowedweapon for you.

Drawn In Winter is all about dishing out Frost damage alongside your devastating attacks. The base enchantment buffs your Power Attacks and will deal a moderate amount of Frost Accumulation to nearby enemies.

Beothel’s Grimoire-1

Additionally, your hits deal a 10% bonus Frost Damage. If you combine that with one of the grimoires we’ll discuss later, you may deal some serious frost damage in the blink of an eye.

Best of all, once enemies are frozen, they’re unable to move, no matter how much you pummel them with attacks.

Where to obtain Drawn In Winter:This one is fairly easier, as it’s just sitting out in the wild, ready to be discovered. Go to Watcher’s Mirror in the northeastern part of Dawnshore. It’s right there waiting for you. Obtaining it is also part of the Call of the Past quest.

5Caeroc’s Pride

Ready? Fire!

Sometimes, you need to bring a gun to a knife fight. That’s where Caeroc’s Pride comes in.

With howAvowed’s combat and equipment are set up,you’re able to dual-wield this pistol alongside any of the other weapons mentioned here on our list.

That means you can shoot enemies from afar and, once they’ve closed the gap on you, slice and dice ‘em until they fall.

The benefit from Caeroc’s Pride is all about Shock Damage: Its base enchantment lets your Power Attacks deal a large amount of Sock Accumulation while your hits deal a 10% bonus Shock Damage.

Where to obtain Caeroc’s Pride:Head southeast of Shantytown in Dawnshore. You’ll arrive on an island where Tempestuous Luandi resides. Defeat him, and Caeroc’s Pride is yours. Be careful, as these enemies are no pushover!

4Beothel’s Grimoire

I Cast Magic Missile!

This is my go-to secondary item throughout the game based on how strong all four available spells are:

Lead Story Writer For Fallout: New Vegas Returns To Obsidian Entertainment

After a long hiatus working on games like Horizon Zero Dawn, John Gonzalez, the lead story writer of New Vegas, has returned to Obsidian.

This grimoire has it all:powerful offensive abilities, defensive buffs to protect and heal yourself, and a reliable way to regain Essence.

Where to obtain Boethel’s Grimoire:Talk to Merilyn in Paradise and purchase the grimoire for 450 Skeyt. It’s that easy and money well spent!

3The Disappointer

DISAPPOINTED!

An easter egg for thePillars of Eternityweapon, The Disappointer doesn’t look like anything special at first glance. Why would you bother using a weapon that has 10% reduced damage?

Here’s the thing, though: it does a bonus 10% bleed damage. It’s not a bad trade-off, but it’s still not ideal.

Once you enchant it, that’s when the real fun begins. The Tender Love and Care enchantment gives a 10% bonus Attack Damage.

From a weak weapon to one that does bonus damage and a bleed? Sign me up.

Where to obtain The Disappointed:You can buy it from Kerdhed “Cutty” Collen in the Extremely Legal Goods store in Northern Paradis.

2The Philosopher’s Riddle

Riddle Me This!

A major critique I have of two-handed weapons is that they’re far too slow for my tastes. Sure, they deal a lot of damage, but I prefer being more agile. It’s a personal preference.

The Philosopher’s Riddle is surprisingly agile and nimble for a two-handed weapon, thanks in part to its Aggressive Debate enchantment, which gives you +15% Attack Speed for 10 seconds after performing a full combo. Combined with dealing extra Poison Damage on hits, and can dish out serious damage in the blink of an eye.

It’s a bit tricky to find, but it’s worth it. You’ll need to head to Castol’s Folly and climb up top on the ledges to find it lying in front of a pile of mushrooms in the ruins.

1Last Light of Day

Burn, baby, burn

I love everything about this weapon. It’s the one I used for most of my playthrough until I obtained something more powerful later in the game, and even then, I still had it on my backup loadout, along with Caeroc’s Pride.

The biggest reason this is such a strong weapon is that its base enchantment restores 3% of your health when you kill an enemy. This means that the more you kill enemies, the more you get healed, allowing you to stay in the fight longer.

You can upgrade this enchant to deal 10% of your maximum health, making you even tankier. Hits also deal 10% bonus Fire Damage, which is the icing on the cake.

Where to obtain Last Light of Day:At the end of the Dawntreader quest, which you can trigger at the Aedryan Embassy in Paradis.
