TheAttack on Titancharacter roster is vast, from the garrisons working on Paradis Island, to the inhabitants of Marley, but there are only a select number of individuals that give the narrative gumption, exhibit eye-widening takedowns, and share a quote or two to bleed your heart dry.

Attack On Titan
10Annie Leonhart
Annie offered a brilliant secondary mystery to season 1 disguised as the Female Titan, and her ongoing goal to return to her father gave her nuance. She’s a solid character to start the list for her fighting chops, willingness to help her comrades (in the end) and for delivering one of the best OVAs.
While attempting to retrieve Eren for the Marleyans, Annie massacred Levi squad as the Female Titan during the high-octane chase through the forest, but she also aided Mikasa during the season finale fight againstEren’s Founding Titanby hammer-throwing her through the air.

9Zeke Jaeger
Many AOT fans loathe Zeke for a number of reasons: Annihilating Erwin’s squad and nearly killing Levi to name a few. However, nobody can deny his well-written arc that’s nearly as tragic as Eren’s. Despite having a weakness for baseballs, Zeke’s Beast Titan is lethal compared to the Female Titan and his arc is much more important to the overall narrative than Annie’s.
Best Moment: Tricking Levi (Season 4 Part 1 Episode 15)
While being chaperoned by Levi, Zeke’s best moment involves his comical fleeing out of the forest while Levi becomes surrounded by titans, and he also gets extra brownie points for being able to fool the captain into a near-fatal explosion later as well assurviving close callshimself.
8Jean Kirschtein
One of the original 104th Cadet Corp members who matured the most is Jean, who began trying to trump Eren at every occasion and even making moves on Mikasa—a dangerous game. Jean is loved tenfold by fans for his grounded views and loyalty to his friends, which places him head and shoulders above Zeke.
Best Moment: “We’re Scout Regiment, We Don’t Know How To Quit.” (Season 4 Part 3 Episode 2)
During the final battle against Eren and the Rumbling, Reiner, who has previously been led down a suicidal path, nearly resigns himself to falling into the Rumbling before Jean catches him. His quote about the scouts never quitting is a powerful moment for Jean, who previously hated the idea of dying on the frontline for nothing.
7Mikasa Ackerman
It may surprise fans to see Mikasa so low in the ranks. However, that has nothing to do with her strength as a soldier, which is one of her best qualities. Her resilience in protecting Eren is uncanny, but in terms of raw character development, other characters take precedence.
Attack On Titan: 15 Saddest Episodes
From Season 1’s The Defeated to Season 4’s Assassin’s Bullet, these are the saddest and most emotional episodes in Attack on Titan.
Best Moment: Defending Trost (Season 1 Episode 7)
Aside from demonstrating her strength of spirit by defying safeguarding Eren during the final episode, bringing a fantastic end to her arc, Mikasa’s jaw-dropping moment came while leading the attack against the Titans in Trost that displayed her skills as a scout on par with Levi.
6Eren Jaeger
The protagonist, Eren Jaeger, just misses out on the top five characters on this list despite abolishing 80% of humanity in the name of love and friendship. Eren goes through a wild personality change in season 4 and overcomes a number of obstacles against Rod Reiss and Ymir’s influence, but let’s be honest, for a majority of the anime he’s a liability, which keeps him in the low ranks.
Best Moment: Opening Up To Armin (Season 4 Part 3 Episode 2)
Fans perked up when Eren became the bad boy, complete with a man bun and windswept coat, but his final speech with Armin in the Paths even beat his “Tatakae” speech with Hange and his numerous fisticuffs with the Armored Titan. Letting out his crippling emotions was a tough watch, but a necessary one.
5Erwin Smith
There’s no better character than Erwin Smith to take fifth place, as he’s high-rank material for his incredible leadership, unshakable courage, and resilient faith in his comrades. Erwin promotes the strength of the scouts and dies in a blaze of glory during Zeke’s uprising as the Beast Titan. Gone but not forgotten.
Best Moment: Rage Speech (Season 3 Part 2 Episode 16)
Erwin was a constant moral support to Hange Zoe and Levi Ackerman, and he had many memorable battles outside the walls. However, none quite match the power of his death speech before leading a suicide charge against the Beast Titan and his words propelling the might of his soldiers forward are rousing and chilling.
4Reiner Braun
Reiner has gone through a long, mental battle during the events of Attack on Titan, grappling with his past sins of devastating Paradis as the Armored Titan while his friends and family wait back in Marley. His inner turmoil is fascinating to watch onscreen and utterly sad, but his character development and fighting spirit give him a more interesting arc than Erwin.
Best Moment: Armored Titan Reveal (Season 2 Episode 6)
Eren’s Attack Titan and Reiner’s Armored Titan offered a number of showdowns to gawk over, alongside Reiner’s reflective anguish during the Tybur event in season 4. However, nothing quite beats the moment when Reiner and Bertholdt reveal themselves to be titans to the scouts. A hair-raising moment.
3Armin Arlert
Not only does Armin receive one of the best character glow-ups in the series, but his strength and spirit are fortified as the series goes on, leading him from a scared teenager to a ruthless and fair leader. Armin is a skilled strategist but also brings the brunt of the emotional weight in the anime and his development is utterly impressive, which gives him a lead over Reiner.
Attack On Titan: 15 Strongest Characters, Ranked
The incredible AoT series is full of tons of very powerful soldiers and titan shifters. Here are the strongest characters, ranked.
Best Moment: Punching Eren (Season 4 Part 3 Episode 2)
From sacrificing himself in a literal blaze of glory, leading him to become the Colossal Titan, to his heartbreaking punch-up with Eren in front of Mikasa, Armin got his own back in the season finale when he punched Eren back in the Paths. This action truly demonstrated how far Armin had evolved as a person.
2Hange Zoe
Offering much of the anime’s comic relief, Hange Zoe is the eccentric scientist and engineer of the squad, with an overenthusiastic, if not unhealthy, obsession with titans. Even though she keeps spirits lifted through humor and a lot of gleeful shouting, Hange is a focused and stubborn soldier who takes care of her comrades and her energy and individuality give her an extra bit of spice over Armin—not to mention her heroic final act.
Best Moment: The Rumbling Sacrifice (Season 4 Part 3 Episode 1)
In addition to creating the Thunder Spears, a crucial weapon later used against the Rumbling, and patching Levi up before he succumbed to his injuries after Zeke’s explosion, Hange’s greatest moment is undoubtedly her sacrifice during the penultimate episode of the anime, when she single-handedly took down several Colossal Titans in order to let her friends escape.
1Levi Ackerman
Taking first place on our list is humanity’s strongest soldier, Levi Ackerman, for his skills in a tight spot, his unforgettable action sequences as the unofficial fidget spinner, and his cutthroat attitude that gives him the air of one of the coolest characters in anime. Levi’s early life is gut-wrenching, as shown in the canon OVA, and despite losing pretty much every friend and family member, he sees humanity’s battle against the titans to the end.
Best Moment: Levi Vs. Beast Titan (Season 3 Part 2 Episode 5)
From Levi’s iconic “Kenny” moment in one of the anime’s best-animated scenes to the end of his arc when he proudly sat in front of the ghosts of his fallen comrades after the Rumbling ended, Levi has had countless powerful moments, but his first fight against the Beast Titan showcased histrue Ackerman strengthand determination. Full-rage Levi is a menace.
