With that in mind, the news of its first expansion, Wickled Isle, launching June 3rd, is excellent news.
Wicked Isle takes place on Midsummer Island and is inspired by folk horror. It promises to explore that element of the game more and create new potential endings for Atomfall’s main campaign.

“Midsummer is located close to the Windscale Atom Plant and as a result the levels of infection in both the people and environment are higher than on the mainland,” explains Ben Fisher,Rebellion’s Head of Design. “You are going to meet new enemy factions including pirate bandits and infected druids…You will also be able to acquire new skills which will aid you on your quest as well as an upgraded metal detector which will enable you find even more loot caches.”
Atomfall Wicked Isle’s Pricing Has Us Concerned
All of the planned story direction and content sounds great, but here’s the question on everyone’s mind: how much does the DLC cost?
When Wicked Isle launches, it will cost £14.99/€19.99/$19.99. Yes, that’s $20 for a DLC release of a game that was only $50. It begs the question: Is the DLC too expensive? Atomfall offered a good amount of content at its $50 price tag, but would spending nearly half that on aDLC expansionprovide the same result?

Also, you can argue that it’s more valuable to purchase theAtomfall Deluxe Upgrade. For $5 more, you get the “Basic Supply Bundle” and “Enhanced Supply Bundle” in addition to the Wicked Isle expansion, though the Steam disclaimer claims it won’t be available “Day 1.” It’s unclear if that means it won’t be available on June 3rd. It’s also unclear if the DLC will be available onGame Pass.
